Previous dual winner of the Nunthorpe has been retired.
He is to stay in Bastiman’s yard and has been given to his daughter by the owners.
Apparently he is as happy as a sand boy out in the paddocks.
A heartwarming story and hats off to all the connections for making the correct decision.
I hope that the old boy enjoys his retirement – after all he deserves to having won £775,000.November 28, 2012 at 14:09 #421086A dream horse, could have topped a million as he had a number of placed runs a few years ago, when I remember one or two television pundits questioning how genuine he was
November 28, 2012 at 14:39 #421087I hope Borderlescott has lots of fun in retirement. To keep competing (and winning!) near the top of the sprinting ladder well into the veteran stage is admirable. Borderlescott kept going in spite of a couple of injury setbacks too, so you have to admire his hardiness.

August 21, 2013 at 10:25 #449020I’ve no problem with them running him again if he’s unhappy retired but I’m puzzled why they keep running the horse in big races he can’t possibly win.
First the King George at Goodwood, then the Gt St Wilfrid and now he’s declared for the Nunthorpe. This horse owes connections absolutely nothing so why aren’t they giving him a reasonable chance of winning by running in small conditions races that are dotted about rather than these pie in the sky entries?
