I think it is about time punters had some clarity on this issue.
In the past some bookmakers have refunded on horses who have refused to race despite said horses having a history of non-starting. If there is some history I believe punters just have to accept the worst case scenario. To my eyes what happened today with Drumlee Sunset was completely different. Punters still got no run for their money but it was entirely unpredictable. Some bookmakers refunded, others didn’t.
Should it really be the luck of the draw as to which firm you used as to whether you get a refund or not?
Either all bets should be lost within the stipulated rules or an individual/body should make a decision that is binding on the industry.
November 15, 2015 at 20:34 #1221913Paddy Power are notorious for these kind of refunds. If I bet with another firm and something happens which leads to some refunding you have to take it on the chin, these refunds are not compulsory but goodwill gestures so fair play to the ones that do.

November 16, 2015 at 02:16 #1221940I just think it was a case of “you horse finishes second your stake is refunded” “you horse finishes second” “your horse falls” bullshit. Theres was 3 days racing at Cheltenham and they wanted to get as many new customers gambling on horses as possible while there was **** all decent football for them to bet on, They offered the concession at the perfect time to keep the non horse racing gamblers in on the action while it was on terrestrial tv.

Run For Your Money
From this Saturday we will refund all losing stakes (as cash) on horses that fail to start a race for any reason. No longer will a horse standing still or refusing to race cost you a penny. This applies to all UK and Irish Horse Races.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
November 27, 2015 at 22:53 #1223536I wonder if that also means horses that give up say 20 or so lengths at the start e.g. Present View in the Paddy Power Gold Cup.
November 27, 2015 at 22:58 #1223537There is t@c’s to it.
Looking at the wording I’d expect that they would have to refuse.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
