One of my favourite novice hurdles won a number of times in recent years by Paul Nicholls.

His challenger this year Mahonia is currently just favourite on the blue but I think he is favourite because of his trainers record rather than his performances on the track.

My fancy is Dee Ee Williams, currently trading at 2/1. Benfleet Boy and Cabinet Minister should ensure a decent gallop and hopefully set the race up for this hard pulling sort. He also has experience and an appetite for a fight which should come in useful as this race is normally a real battle.

    I concur with that, Aragon.

Dee Ee Williams is my fancy too. With a slight place fancy for Somersby.

However, DEW can finish as runner up here and still be a big contender for the Supreme Novices at Cheltenham. I think it’s a general concensus that Dee Ee will show his very best at Cheltenham in March and anything before that is a bonus.

I cant have Mahonia after his last run, despite this being a target for the PN stable on many many occasions.

Love having a bet in these type of races and the Tolworth has also been a fav of mines for alot of years.

Don’t know who got the biggest suprise when DEW got beat by Medermit..L Treadwell or Alan King but they must have a good idea of the time of day through him.

The front 2 put 3 lengths between themsleves and the 3rd that day which is a fair way to be pulling away from a dual winner but I’m not so sure it was as good a race as it looked on paper.

Mahonia made complete mincemeat of Medermit when they met. Then he was beaten easily by Alana King’s Karabak who I would think is a better horse than DEW by a long way having run the highly thought of Mad Max to 1 length.

I’m not so sure Mahonia’s defeat was all down to the class of Karabak, I don’t think he took too well to Cheltenham and Sandown will be more up his street.

He can go a fair gallop Mahonia and DEW doesn’t look to have a great turn of foot. I reckon Ruby will have done his homework and will go for home early and take this without too much trouble.

    Mahonia for me

Is this the race rearanged from Sandown, The Blue Square Rossington Novices’ Hurdle?

    Same runners I think.

I originally fancied PN’s for this but AP aparantly is really keen on the chances of Clay Hollister who I find hard to access.

Might kick myself but I’m switching in the hope the man knows what he talking about.

I fancy Alfie Flits for this @ 14s, if the ground is genuinely good. There doesnt look to be much speed amongst the opposition, Clay Hollister probably being my second best.

Similar field to what the Tolworth would have been. I fancied Dee Ee Williams for the Tolworth but am not as strong on him at this track. Got the look of a race to leave alone punting wise.

I do agree with Bulwark regarding Alfie Flits though. 20/1 in places is a good price for the horse if the ground is good at a track like Haydock.

Think I’ll just watch keep my hand out of my pocket.

20/1 last night Alfie Flits, scoots in. Sharp track, two miles and a sound surface and this is a good horse.

Dee Ee Williams never looked totally happy on the track to me.

A nice win there Ian, was screaming him up that run in, only got 16s on him in a lucky 63 but napped him in Bobs 4pp comp so happy with that.
