Super return by the mare breaking a 25 year old course record. She travelled beautifully and easily beat her very good stablemate and last start Group 1 winner Moment Of Change. No doubt there will still be morons some where who pot her or say she beat nothing.Thankfully running a course record nullifies that.It is also worth noting that when the course record was set by ‘Special’ 25 years ago it was on a rock hard track with a tail wind, there was a good depth of grass and plenty of watering on today’s track.
February 16, 2013 at 12:41 #429768Black Caviar is the best horse in training anywhere in the World Jollyp. Fantastic performance! It’s great she’s come back in far better shape than at Royal Ascot.
I think from the Frankel V Black Caviar debate, you’ve got the wrong impression of how we see the mare. Most believe she’s one of the Greats, if not THE Greatest sprinter in living memory.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 16, 2013 at 19:49 #429807Should they go to Ascot again? Then perhaps keep her in Europe, take her to Frankel for the SH breeding season (I’m sure even with a full book they’d let her in!), and come back home to Oz in the fall.
February 17, 2013 at 02:14 #429835I would like to see her head over again, though i think the arduous trip is the big killer.Ideally you would take her over a bit fresher and a few weeks before next time. Her part owner paid millions for a half share in her half brother All Too Hard and he is going for the Queen Anne so you never know.
February 17, 2013 at 19:03 #429882This fabulous mare is the one bright spot in Australian sport at the moment.
Otherwise it is riddled with corruption and drugs. The disgraceful way their womens cricket team threw their game against WI on Wednesday was shameful and should be investigated. They should be thrown out of the sport.

February 18, 2013 at 01:43 #429912Great to see Black Caviar back in good health and winning ways again, like Frankel she is a joy to watch on the racecourse.
I would love to see her come over to the UK again and pay a vist to Frankel at Newmarket and perhaps bypassing a return to Royal Ascot this time to stay a while at HQ to take in the July Cup.
Shame that she didn’t put her maiden visit to the UK on hold until Frankel was at stud as they were never going to meet on the racecourse.
Now we have to wait and see if they are going to take the risk with the journey over again.
I hope they do but whether she does or not just have to say…..‘Well done Black Caviar you are the greatest sprinter in the World’

Grow up Jonibake! Just shows the kind of person you are,a sad l person now Frankel is retired. When one comes from England and has football one should already know about disgraceful behaviour So they do an investigation and find a few things that might be awry, doesn’t make all of sport the same just because it is overblown. That is a bit like me saying because you have had a reasonably constant stream of media personalaties charged with child sex offences that everyone in the media there is a paedophile.Though i have common sense which you seem to be lacking in.
February 18, 2013 at 08:24 #429921It’s a tricky one whether to come to ascot again. I’ve little doubt on the royal meetings normal good/good-firm ground she would have put up a much better performance – unless the rider miscalculated even worse! But it was clear she didn’t like the ground and still performed well. Just like Frankel in October, actually.
It’s a long way to come with the state of the ground a complete gamble. There’s also the possibility she remembers ascot and under-performs, which would be a great shame.

Sad I am not Jolly! In fact I have a real spring in my step as the weather gets warmer and the new flat season approaches! I feel we may get a HOT SNAP this year my friend?!
So "a few things" have gone awry have they. Phew that’s a relief. It is just a wonder that the federal justice minister, the sports minister and the heads of the five major sporting organisations in your country felt the need to attend the press conference and talk of "widespread corruption" and the "darkest day in Australian sport". Still they were wrong as you say. That came a few days later when your cricket girls threw their match.
Anyway just a friendly dig my friend. Your mare is awesome and like everyone else I would love to see her come over and put right what happened last year and then mate with the greatest of all time.

February 18, 2013 at 08:50 #429924The fact is that they have presented no facts as yet,the ‘darkest day in Australian sports’ was a media beat up that contained no info or fact. Its a bit like those womens magazines that have Pippa Middleton on the cover with a sensational headline and no story,or try to feed you something like Pippa is a stunner maybe through coke bottle glasses!!! It all stems from an Aussie rules health and diet conditioner that was supposed to be giving players peptides in their conditioning unbeknowns to the players, but maybe known to some support staff. So that is the crux of the ‘Darkest Day In Sport’
February 18, 2013 at 10:53 #429929Jollyp, I agree with you totally. The sports drug scandal was a media event whipped up by hysteria and a government that was intent to do anything it could to take the heat off them over the Peter Slipper and Craig Thomson scandals. We don’t have a skeric of evidence to support this. Hearsay, speculation etc, has done nothing to support the facts. The Australian media proved without doubt that they were like a dog with a bone. No evidence but let’s beat it up. As for Black Caviar, despite the lack of opposition breaking the track record which stood for 27 years and really just ridden hands and heels to the line proved her greatness. Moody threw the media a bone yesterday saying the Newmarket Hcp was not out of the question. Surely the handicapper has to give her at least 61kg. But, the William Reid G1 at Moonee Valley looks a much better option which she will start $1.03.
February 18, 2013 at 11:15 #429934Spot on Slewman, how strange to have the PM have her say on this! It is a nothing thing which may yield a few people doing the wrong thing, but it is a government trying to get the attention away from their scandals.I think the only error(and that is a bit harsh) Moody made was winning the Orr over 1400mt and bringing her back to a 1000mt a week later to face a fresh and spot on Hay List.It ended up being a gut buster for her and it showed in Adelaide and Royal Ascot after. With 61.5 kg in the Newmarket and facing 2 extremely good horses in Barakey and Moment Of Change on light weights i think she would be vulnerable.I think it would be a big mistake to run her in the Newmarket.
February 18, 2013 at 11:25 #429936Jollyp, I agree with you totally.
Funny that!

Thats because Slewman knows the story that no real facts have been produced. Unlike you and Himself and co who just look to deride Australia in any way you can You see this was a Black Caviar post and your reply was about how drugged up and corrupt all sport was here! Let me tell you this mate there is a story going around here right now about racing forums where some troll said Damian Oliver was tipping a high ranking official and that Peter Moody had several positive swabs swept under the carpet because he was too successful and powerful.Moody is fuming and they are now going to look at the technology to track the troll down and prosecute him with the full force of the law.It wasn’t TRF but i would invite the couple of trolls on here who said the same about Moody and others on here to repeat it now
February 18, 2013 at 12:09 #429941So we are to believe a couple of fxxxwits on TRF over high ranking government and sports officials FROM YOUR OWN COUNTRY?!!! How can it be a media circus when all these high powered people are saying it?
Sorry but you guys have banged the "look at how wonderful and talented and healthy we Aussies are" drum for so long and now it is coming crashing down around you all you can do is claim it is media hype instead of fronting up and admitting that you guys have a serious problem. Where are your balls guys? Jeez you are delusional!
One would hope that you will less inclined to slag off the UK now that your stars have been revealed as cheats and fixers – but I doubt it.
You are right that this is a thread about Black Caviar so it is my last word on the subject but in my defence the title does say "23 –
STRAIGHT
" when we now know you guys are anything but.
