In Berlin (Hoppergarten) Billy Loughnane has won his 1st Gp.1 and Rebel’s Romance his eighth.
At nineteen years of age he is some jockey..well done Billy and Rebel’s Romance.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 10, 2025 at 15:27 #1737908He is , if he stays dedicated and driven then it’ll be the first of many
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
August 10, 2025 at 15:58 #1737910He’s a cracking prospect, but let’s be honest: anyone competent could have won on Rebel’s Romance today. He was comfortably the best horse in the race.
August 10, 2025 at 16:27 #1737912I know he was an armchair ride Glad but, as you know, this is Godolphin’s flagship horse and the apple of Charlie Appleby’s eye, he would have been feeling the pressure. You could see by the crowds appreciation after he won how much RR is adored on the International circuit.
Billy had big riding boots to fill today and he did it admirably, Rebel’s Romance looked like he could do it all again after he’d won.
Wishing him well for his future career and more Group 1 success.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 10, 2025 at 16:37 #1737913I’m not denigrating the lad at all, Jac: as I said, he’s an outstanding young rider. He also comes across as a really good bloke when he’s being interviewed.
I also wish him all the best the for the future; it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him get a top job if Moore/Buick/Keane move on.
August 10, 2025 at 16:39 #1737914Mentioning no names (Chezza).. 😅
He’s set his sights far bigger than keeping his claim to ride in a LincolnGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
August 10, 2025 at 17:02 #1737915Well done to him. Even if the ride was the proverbial penalty kick, he did it on Godolphin’s flagship horse. I’m sure he’ll get more G1 rides, especially in places like Germany.
Sheikh Mohammed aka “The Dubai Lad” will be very pleased.August 10, 2025 at 18:13 #1737917Never entered my mind Glad, I was thinking along the same lines as you at first but factoring in his age and the huge responsibility the boys done well to stay so focused on the job in hand.

Love that ‘The Dubai Lad’ Ruby
