Well, thanks for doing me a favour because you have demonstrated just how hard it is to pick horses which will "place" and now I don’t feel so bad.
Strange though it is I am starting to think it more difficult to select these rather than to find winners and definitely harder to make a profit.
I have broadend an idea from another forum (not here) devotee which I promised I would never divulge but am quite happy to reveal from where my selections originate.
From both SUN & MIRROR I consider the four main tipsters naps, if they come from large fields or thought of (i.m.o.) as "rags" but as naps they cannot really be such, they are quickly discarded. The smaller the field the better as far as I am concerned but must be at a reasonable price according to the field.
Of course it is all a matter of opinion and today LACKAMON selected by two of them won!

with an EW system which I thought on its first reading would produce quite a few selections per day but so far the reverse has been true.
Chris Forwood’s book BETTER BETTING published by the Daily Mirror promotes this system (panic not regarding copyright) which was suggested to the writer via several reader of the Mirror and is NOT his own work.
Readers will be aware within the racecard are three recommendations: – SF (strongly fancied) F (fancied) and EW. There is also SPOTFORM.
The suggestion is to back the EW horse if in the top three of the Spotform ratings.
I have only just finished reading the book and have started a check on the EW horse but only if the top rated SPOT horse (saves counting and checking the 1.2.3, I am so lazy) and so far only two selections without success.

If I get my head around what I’m trying to do it will be an each/way doubles system or in today’s case a rolling double. 2/1 is the minimum price I’m looking at and flat races only.
