the answer is sadly no.
I was hoping to enlist the help of my short term residential help (No.2 son) but perhaps he got a hint of why I was being nice to him and he quickly moved out after showing no intention of doing so and has not returned and so we packed our bags and headed north to Norfolk.
The Australian granddaughter’s birthday came and passed without any illustration to accompany my email and when I telephoned her (at huge cost) to wish her a happy 13th birthday I was moodily greeted by a grumpy teenager grunting monosyllabic replies to my questions and can only assume such demeanor was in retribution for my unimaginative email.
What else could have been the cause?

Having reached the milestone of 50 years married this year I was asked to what the secret was.
Simple really I thought.
Having sex nearly every day!
We nearly had it on Monday and nearly on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday,
Friday is a rest day to build my strength up for the weekend when we nearly had it again on Saturday and Sunday.

Thinking back to your 13 year old granddaughter I think these young whipper snappers lack the patience and time to spend two minutes on the phone talking to old granddads. I was the same when my gran use to phone I would run and hide under the bed.

A woman in a supermarket is following a grandfather and his badly-behaved grandson. He has his hands full with the child screaming for sweets, biscuits, all sorts of things. The grandad is saying in a controlled voice: "Easy, William, we won’t be long . . . easy boy."
Another outburst and she hears the grandad calmly say : "It’s okay William. Just a couple more minutes and we’ll be out of here. Hang in there, boy."
At the checkout the little horror is throwing items out of the trolley. Grandad says again in a controlled voice : "William, William, relax buddy, don’t get upset. We’ll be home in five minutes, stay cool William."
Very impressed, she goes outside to where the grandfather is loading his groceries and the boy into the car. She says : "It’s none of my business, but you were amazing in there. I don’t know how you did it. That whole time you kept your composure, and no matter how loud and disruptive he got,you just calmly kept saying things would be okay. William is very lucky to have you as his grandad."
"Thanks," says the grandpa. "But I am William. The little *******’s name is Dark."

Just to clear one or two things up because being an old self confessed grumpy granddad I am not great in any sense of the word.
Also with regard to the biscuit tin, the only thing I keep in it is some money which I hide away from Mrs B.

Billion this thread will be saved as the system thread of the century. When you are long gone and the grand kids are smelling their inheritance and saying ‘this is strange, the money that old grumpy git left us smells like a McVitie’s biscuit factory’ I will be busy transferring all your systems from thehorsebox and putting them on here for all to laugh at…no, no …..I mean make money from.
