Am I right in thinking the closest any horse has come to winning the Champion Hurdle, Gold Cup and Grand National would be L’Escargot, with his 6th in the Champion Hurdle ? Has any other horse finished in top 6 in all three races, or even come close to that ?
My favourite horses - Red Rum, Spanish Steps, Proud Tarquin, Esban, Go-Pontinental, Barona, Charles Dickens, The Dikler, Astbury, Black Secret, Vulgan Town, Huperade, Well To Do, Crisp, Quintus, Argent, Colebridge, Pearl Of Montreal, Nereo, Sonny Somers, Tubs VI, Tartan Ace, Red Candle, L'Escargot, Bula, Beau Bob, Rouge Autumn, Rough Silk, Frodo, Deblin's Green, Prince Tino, Eyecatcher, The Pilgarlic, Captain Christy, Mr Midland, Interview II, Credit Call, My Virginian, Flush Of Diamonds, Scout, Money Ma

Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
September 17, 2023 at 09:27 #1663431The year Constitution Hill runs in the Grand National Chezza will vote for Hughesey (instead of for Chezza) in the annual TRF Forumite Of The Year poll.
It ain’t gonna happen.

I see him as another Pendil, probably win everything up to the King George, but won’t stay 3m2f. I know Astonville managed 10th, 10th and 13th, all in the same year, but I’m struggling to think of any horse even close to L’Escargot.

September 17, 2023 at 12:58 #1663455Anyone who objectively watched the 2m4f Aintree Hurdle and compared it to what he’s done at 2m would be questioning whether Constitution Hill would even stay 3m at Grade 1 level on a Park course, never mind the extended 3m2f round Cheltenham.
Lots of talk here about him and the Gold Cup at Ascot earlier in the here – for me he wouldn’t stay 2m4f in a strongly-run Group 1 Flat race in a horse box.
As Alan Potts perhaps (he’ll no doubt correct me if I’m wrong) suggested, if Constitution Hill is to win a Cheltenham Cup, it’s quality, not stamina, that will get him home.
More Best Mate than, say, Burrough Hill Lad, The Thinker, Master Oats or Native River (all National winners of one sort or another).

and says the Hill will be running in next years Champion Hurdle then any horse in training could come 6th in it as 6 will be the maximum field numberGaelic Warrior would be capable of doing the feat… Would be 2nd CH.. 1st in the other two
