Deer Park Lord, BHB Rating of …. 1
surely the trainer is not charging training fees for this one, he couldn’t, could he ?
fair play to the owner though for having six runners in the first two races, even if they only have 3 legs between them
and people knock the all weather !
July 12, 2008 at 18:54 #172986And unsurprisingly tailed off again.
I forever am asking myself why Nolan bothers because it cannot be much fun training these poor beasts and the money wasted on training fees for the owner each year will be six figures.
And what do they get in return in prize money,a couple of hundred quid if one manages to fluke a place (as Alfie Lee did a couple of weeks back).July 13, 2008 at 00:46 #173028The owner absolutely lives to have bad horses; she did make a terrible mistake a few years ago when buying Lord Advocate who accidentally won a hatful.
July 13, 2008 at 11:02 #173067Once they reach 0 they automatically get transferred to Robin Bastiman – BHB Rule 143 part II (d)
July 13, 2008 at 15:19 #173097I’m not sure Donal Nolan would have had the same success that Robin Bastiman has hadwith Borderlesscott.
July 13, 2008 at 21:32 #173122Conversely, what new depths could Nolan have plumbed with Laund View Leona, Time for the Clan, The Castigator, Newryman, Mojo, Lesmacadam or Four Men, among others? Now there’s a scary thought…
LOL @ Irish Stamp, btw.

July 13, 2008 at 23:05 #173133I loved Lord Advocate and well done to Hamilton for having a race named after him.
Such good old days of him tearing off in front around that loop.
As for the Bastiman rags, they earned their corn running in a lot of conditon races at top courses like York and Chester earning £500 per horse for running and giving the owners a free lunch and champers, then the BHB got wind and put in a minimum rating to qualify.
July 14, 2008 at 09:26 #173157Dis someone mention Gerry Kelly?
July 14, 2008 at 12:34 #173182Hello,
Bear in mind the poor horses’ careers don’t end on the flat..bang ’em off to Dr Pritchard where they can get place money down to sixth in top chases whilst supposedly top trainers keep their steeds tucked up in their boxes…

regards,
doyley
July 15, 2008 at 15:53 #173370One thing that you can guarantee about Macfadyen-Murray/Nolan horses is that they will win a healthy percentage of best turned out awards. slow, but always beautifully presented and by all accounts lovingly cared for.
I saw Lord Advocate parade before ‘his race’ last season. Looked full of beans and an absolute picture.
