Talking of The Schweppes and Bootlaces….

I probably backed my old favourite Walnut Wonder in the race.
Wish you hadn’t done that Andrew.
Excluding SS for the Arkle I don’t think I’ve ever had so many AP bets on a horse in my entire life.I got so worked up I never slept for weeks waiting for the race to be run.
Unfortunately it wasn’t Bootlaces I was backing but Snowtown Boy
Can still see Bootlaces cruising through the race on the bridle like it was yesterday.February 8, 2012 at 09:39 #390281Hurdygurdyman…I’m somewhat confused with your tipping….Soldatino was a near cert a short while ago according to you, get on at 20’s, take the hint etc….next you say you’ve had a little on for the champion hurdle at 1000 in case he wins the betfair by 10 lengths, which is ridiculous statement anyway, you also keep saying Alarazi could run well, and now another…Third Intentions as an eyecatching entry….so either you know something about Soldatino which you’re not letting on, or by the time the race comes round you will have tipped up 6 or 7 in the race??

February 8, 2012 at 11:53 #390298Was originally going to go with Raya Star, but gone for Third Intention and Empire Levant, good record for five year olds.

I agree you are confused and long may it continue.
February 8, 2012 at 13:46 #390327The point of my post Jamie was the B-H or whatever you want to call it has been the site of some huge gambles in the past.
I was simply saying Third Intention fits the profile.
I am hoping Soldatino wins but let’s just say I would have been happier had the race been run last weekend instead of this but it’s early days yet.
February 8, 2012 at 14:43 #390336Sadly i can’t see the temperatures increasing enough. i am actualy gutted I am well up for this meeting.
Come on Newbury WARM UP!!!!
February 8, 2012 at 15:10 #390341Did someone say they had to go up?
The forecast is for -1 overnight for the next 3 days with both the BBC and the Met.
With frost covers down wouldn’t that make it fav to go ahead if the f/cast is correct ?
February 8, 2012 at 15:37 #390348Nope. Not to hot on the mechanics of it all. i simply assumed if it is -1 to -3 every night the covers would do little?
Surely the covers arent that effective and the ground will not thaw enough???
i am no expert so anyones experience is valued. Would they be able to race with the current sort of forecast?
I bloody hope so.
February 8, 2012 at 16:31 #390363Just heard from Richard Osgood himself on TR. He says -1 is no problem and his main worry is a line of snow coming in from Ireland. It’s apparently being followed by rain which should clear it if and when it hits.
If he’s right as long as it doesn’t snow too close to race time they should be ok
Touch wood
February 8, 2012 at 22:14 #390407My two favourites now are Brampour and Final Approach. Towards the top of the handicap.
Both beautifully bred (if not quite Zaynar’s class) and have won very good races, Brampour in a fast time for good to soft, and Final Approach didn’t have the best of runs at Cheltenham but still won. I think he belted the first.
Of the others, still down to run, I’ve bet on Empire Levant, Soldatino, and Third Intention, highlighted by RP ratings. Apparently, the easier course should suit.
February 9, 2012 at 04:23 #390442JAMIEDB9007 would have field day with you
February 9, 2012 at 05:33 #390446Third Intention and Zarkander trimmed and Darlan and Get Me Out of Here drifted.
February 9, 2012 at 09:16 #390453Been toppibg up on empire and thrid intention regularly both from 25s. Still like Brampour and he has been given a little break. Also very decent 7 pound claimer gives him a shout.
Couldn’t have soldatino with my mates money and i hate him.
Going to do a few forecasts with zarkandar, he has to be on the premisies.
February 9, 2012 at 10:27 #390459Sketti: How on earth can you ‘hate’ a horse?
Can fully understand you not thinking he can win but ‘hate’ when it comes to an animal is madness
February 9, 2012 at 10:47 #390461Sorry, misleading comment. I don’t hate the horse i hate my mate.

I actually have a soft spot for soldatino because i was on him at large odds for his trumph. just don’t think the horse is acually that fast.
February 9, 2012 at 11:08 #390465Sketti: OK, cheers
