Entries out for one of the biggest hurdles of the year…..

Paddy Power and Sportsbook already going Five Places.

I always like to follow a potential “Supreme” horse in this, as well as anything from Nicky Henderson in particular. I also tend to overlook the potential Irish Challengers at this stage, if I can help it.

It’s far too early for me, but if I had to side with one just now it would be Harambe. Very impressive last time, and they look as if they’re being careful with him.

Monsieur Le Coq has done plenty, without winning too often, and he’s probably a lot better than reputation.
Early shortlist, but in no rush at all here….

    Harambe
    Monsieur Le Coq
    Elixir Du Nutz
    Eldorado Allen
    Not So Sleepy
    Fusil Raffles

Thebannerkingrebel at that stand out 25/1 with Betfred could be interesting.

I haven’t went in with too many ante-post bets this season, but as it hots up, I’ve bet two here.

    Quio De Neuf 20-1
    Pacify 20-1

I know that Willie Mullins has a full squad to choose from, so it would be very risky to look at any of his too early.

I definitely won’t bet her just now, but I think that Eglantine Du Seuil is a big price at 25-1.

I’m eyeing up Janadil here. I love the old notion of novices getting battle-hardened in tough handicaps and this fella, without visually pulling up trees, has been working his way through them nicely. Looks a Betfair then Supreme type to me.

He’s entered in the 2m g1 and handicap at leopardstown too. Obviously Mullins will probably have lots to choose from so he still might take the trip.

Though only 14-1 now I am also a fan of Thebannerkingrebel

Do think despite being beaten in a Grade 2 last time, that the 7 year old is better than a handicapper

Still no bet for me in this, and no plans to change that until Final Decs

Different looking shortlist now, but Harambe still high on the list…

    Shortlist
    Bullionaire
    Gumball
    Harambe
    Janidil

Janidil not declared for The Ladbroke, so very close to backing him here, but common sense kicking in, and managing to hold off…..for now.

    Agree Nath.

Shortlist quickly whittled down today at the Five Day Stage.

I’ll have an early play on Gumball and Harambe at 16’s, but main bets will be after Final Decs (Prices edited)

    Gumball 25’s
    Harambe 20’s

On first look this looks a fairly crap renewal.

Ciel De Neige would definitely be interesting if travelling, would want double figs on him but i’d say if it sounds like he will travel he’ll be cut quite quickly.
Disappointing last time but didn’t jump great late on. Definitely handicapped to win a big pot just catching him might be the issue!

If Stolen Silver was to rock up here, he’d also be interesting. Did only run like 2 weeks ago on Haydock heavy though.

Seems to lack the quality and strength in depth of 10+ years ago but this is still a competitive renewal.

Never Adapt a.t.m but will look again on Thursday

Why did you abandon Elixir, VTC?

    I’ve jumped ship.

A likely winner is there for all to see from a handicapping point of view.

It won last time and beat a horse who is now rated 144. The 3rd in that race is now rated 154. And it gets in off 130 and has been saved for this. That horse is Mack The Man. Needs one to come out at final decs, hopefully that will happen. Can see it being 7-2 eventually. :bye:

Mark, just didn’t like how Elixir finished his races, after I had had another look at him.

He’s not one to completely give up on, and he’s got a big one in him off his mark, but I was thinking maybe in the spring. Market doesn’t like him, but he’s a fair old price as a result.

    You liking him?
