No, not the ‘live’ pictures, but the "Your bet will be processed in xx seconds" message I sometimes encounter. Can anyone explain why this happens during In-Running?
They undoubtedly have a need for some form of queueing mechanism, but is anyone familiar with the criteria that is used e.g. size of stake?

I’ve no experience of in-play betting, but this is from the Betfair Help Glossary:Delays
In some in-play markets, time-delays are used to ensure that people are given an opportunity to cancel unmatched bets when a major event happens, such as a goal being scored. This delay is also designed to protect customers in the event of broadcast signal delay.

February 25, 2009 at 01:17 #212191In the old days of in-running on football matches the delay was only about 1 or 2 seconds (I think, though am prepared to be corrected). This allowed shrewd punters to go to the live matches and lay team A if team B had a penalty, a man sent off or score a goal etc. With horse racing the delay is only 1 second, even though there are track players approx 1.5 seconds ahead of those watching on SIS. Anyone who tried to take advantage of the last-fence fallers at Hereford yesterday will know what I’m talking about. Personally, as an in-running punter I’d be happy to play on a level playing field and pitch my judgement against anyone’s.
