When TAPK has a setback…’Taquin’ failing by a neck for a place and ‘Blaklion’s weight beating him last week he comes back with both guns blazing, one is Irish Saint winning this at 10’s down to 5’s e/w to the tune of £150 and the other barrels loaded with ‘Out Sam at 16/1 and 12/1 e/w again for the Eider, that will do for this week.
I always respect your selections TAPK,but Out Sam really???? I’ve got massive doubts on the ground front and the trip. Jumped like a pig all his career and the increased distance = more mistakes. On the plus side,he’s going the right way round and he did run on at Kempton. Not enough in that to make me part with any hard earned though. I think the ‘ballyandy boujelais’ has gone to your head. In my opinion of course
February 25, 2017 at 09:15 #1288810Irish Saint and ew on opening batsmen. Good luck all
February 25, 2017 at 09:50 #1288813All in on Fingerontheswitch. Bottom of the weights for the shrewd jockey/trainer combo.

I know what you mean pal about Out Sam but I have twice as much on Irish Saint as I really fancy him,he looks like a plot horse to be honest whereas my opinion of Warrens horse is purely based on his run in last years ‘Ultima’ where like you say he blundered his way round but he has raced against far better quality horses than these and I just think he is so slow that the 4m will suit him…Whatever he does today I wont be rushing in to bet him again but he’s been catching my eye in this field all week.Good luck with your selections.
February 25, 2017 at 11:10 #1288842The owners of Irish Saint bigged it up massively in a Cheltenham preview night this week. Nicholls gave it a positive spin also. I’ve had a sentimental poke at Opening Batsmen. Hopefully he’ll let the others burn themselves out up front before nabbing them over the last.
February 25, 2017 at 11:49 #1288856Taken a flyer on Opening Batsman.
Good luck all
February 25, 2017 at 11:52 #1288857I’m very keen on the chances of Three Musketeers (should improve up in trip) @ 8/1 and Fingerontheswitch @ 9/1 who had not finished progressing over hurdles and with the application of a tongue tie has begun to do so over fences, he handled previous class rises over hurdles so it should be just a question of the amount of progress. I project these two horses clear by half a stone.
The main danger is Double Shuffle, I respect Tom George’s fine record in the race. Ballykan could be next best narrowly ahead of Theatre Guide.
The reasons I oppose the others (in card order):
Annacotty: needs a spell hunting to work a miracle.
Aso: tendency to make late mistakes and has been kept away from good.
Irish Saint: Paul Nicholls is bullish but the horse has not looked as good since returning from a year off and I’m not convinced he will stay 3 miles even on good.
Cocktails At Dawn: lacks the stamina and class, not particularly fluent.
Triolo D’Alene: regressive, gone at the game (the form in beating Wishfull Thinking last season is worthless as the latter went off like a hare).
Viva Steve: won’t have the pace in this class on good.
Opening Batsman: would be third in but at 11 appears to have gone past best by 10+.
Pilgrims Bay: needs to be produced on the line but won’t be remotely close enough as not particularly fluent and is up 2 classes.February 25, 2017 at 12:40 #1288868Piling into theatre guide big time at 11’s
February 25, 2017 at 15:42 #1288909Great pick Joe, well done
February 25, 2017 at 15:45 #1288910Two for me: Opening Batsman and Pilgrims Bay
Good luck all
Get in Joe…Never in doubt eh? Although Paddy looking round on ‘Theatre’ might have gave you a moments concern.
February 25, 2017 at 16:07 #1288912Two for me: Opening Batsman and Pilgrims Bay
Good luck all
I’ve often thought you know the minds of horses, Joe; this confirms it. Pilgrims Bay has put it all in for once.
Best deserves a big present after that.Value Is EverythingFebruary 25, 2017 at 16:31 #1288915Well done Joe, a 25/1 cracker
February 25, 2017 at 16:55 #1288916Many thanks. He must have been any price over the first half dozen
February 25, 2017 at 18:03 #1288929Well done, extraordinary – don’t know how you found that one Joe.
February 25, 2017 at 19:03 #1288937TOP STUFF JOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A minor question …….. Did Double Shuffle’s mistake at the third last make a difference or would it have finished second whatever?
February 25, 2017 at 23:49 #1288963Two for me: Opening Batsman and Pilgrims Bay
Good luck all
Great shout
Well played
February 26, 2017 at 14:11 #1289020Thanks, again.
Raymo, don’t think that error made any difference. Winner was cantering over everything and Best did superbly for one of his experience to land over the last and still take a pull.
