April 25, 2009 at 01:52 #223489if paco boy runs will anihalite this field, virtual will want cut in the ground and lovelace was disappointing last time out, stotsfold will want further
dont see a problem with the mile, he’s entered in the juddamonte and queen anne this summer over the distance
6-4 odds for a group 1 winner (beating the classy natagora) is a very good price and i’m expecting big things from him this yearApril 25, 2009 at 03:10 #2235096/4 is a bit short for me in a race over a mile for a horse who has yet to win over further than 7f
I’ll take my chances with Virtual at the current 10/3
April 25, 2009 at 16:04 #223572I agree with ARWalsh and i’m amazed he’s 6/4. I was expecting him to be odds on. There are no real trail blazers in the field and despite the fact he’s conceding weight and has never won over a mile he is the class horse in the race. His last run over a mile is the best form on offer by some way in my opinion. Goldikova, following the retirement of Zarkava, Henry and Raven’s, has to be the best miler in Europe.
Can anyone confirm he definitely runs because the RP states he’ll only run if the ground is suitable? If I back it now I assume i’d get my stake back?
Edited to say: He’s drifting on BF, could end up 7/4 – 2/1 at this rate.
April 25, 2009 at 16:59 #223581I’m a bit iffy about Paco Boy today. This is one of my favourite horses but the fact that he is giving six pounds today and the race is over a mile makes him far from a good thing in my opinion. Had this been a seven furlong contest I’d have been inclined to back him but the extra furlong on a track like Sandown with an uphill finish I find concerning.
The plus is that there isn’t a huge amount of obvious pace in the race Kandidate will probably take them along but the pace shouldn’t be crazy so the emphasis shouldn’t be hugely on stamina.
It looks a tricky little race.
April 25, 2009 at 18:16 #223595Lay Paco Boy
Back Virtual to winApril 25, 2009 at 18:53 #223604Get in there Hughesy!!! First proper bet of the flat.. The drift was worrying but better for the bank balance.
April 25, 2009 at 19:03 #223605Same here Aragorn 15/8 proved just too tempting about a Group 1 horse in that sort of race.
Still not entirely convinced that Paco Boy is best over 8 furlongs but they didn’t go a mad pace and Richard Hughes gave him a superb ride and Paco Boy won comfortably in the end.
If he’s going to win a G1 over 8 furlongs I think the Sussex Stakes is most likely as Goodwood is a sharp track which ought to suit Paco Boy.
April 25, 2009 at 19:07 #223607I would agree Ian. He’s still got it to prove at G1 level over a mile but today’s race was a decent group 3 and he had to win if he is going to compete at that level.
One of, if not my favourite horse on the flat and i’ll be punting him all year. He is often over priced for some reason as well.
April 25, 2009 at 22:11 #223630Well done guys, was a nice price about Paco Boy. Looks a decent horse, i like the name too.
April 26, 2009 at 00:40 #223644The owner of the syndicate knows he stays a mile…Don’t be put off when he runs at any level over this distance. He likes juice in the ground too, so today was decent….Exciting….

today was actually a Group 2 and he acrried a 6 lb penalty
April 26, 2009 at 20:46 #223749Sorry, should have qualified that statement, I meant that the quality of the race was probably group 3 with Paco Boy being the exception in class.
