Sigh
The horse I’d been waiting all season to run on good ground wins
Talked myself out of it because of the hard race in the Irish national
Sums up my luck at the moment
Back them they lose, don’t back them they win
Hopefully the flat brings a change in luck
April 27, 2024 at 16:12 #1692030Grand National, Scottish National and now Bet365 Gold Cup (aka the Whitbread) with 3 different types of horses – bear in mind that on 20 January Minella Cocooner was winning a Navan 3m Beginners Chase on just his 3rd chase start.
April 27, 2024 at 16:49 #1692039The winner is worth rating quite a bit better than the result. Time is 15+ seconds slower than Racing Post Standard. Whereas many races today beat standard. Steadily run / slowed it up – favouring prominent runners and those with speed. Annual Invictis made the running and fourth Certainly Red was originally mid div before going more prominent from the start of the back straight. Nick Rockett was mid div but he has more speed (doubtful stayer) than most, so the slowish pace was to a degree to his advantage. Minella Cocooner is a proper stayer and may well have won easier had the pace been stronger.
