Only five declared, which alters things a fair bit. They are:
Snoopy Loopy, Deep Purple, Church Island, Ollie Magern, Tamarinbleu.
At least that field isn’t likely to produce a slowly run, tactical affair!

October 30, 2009 at 18:48 #256267Not a race i’d be in a hurry to have a bet on. I would have a tentative vote for Ollie Magern. He likes it around the track much in the same way Monets Garden liked it around Aintree and called on past experience. Deep Purple might just find inconsistant jumping a problem when the extra stamina comes into play. I’d imagine Ollie has been layed out for this one. The 3/1 seems fair enough.

With all respect AP there’s more chance of the Grand National being run at a crawl than this, 4 front runners v Snoopy Loopy?
`
The bookies in their wisdom make Tamarinbleu fav but that has to be the joke of the century. No way was that down to punters jumpin on AND IT HAS FALSE FAV WRITTEB ALL OVER ITEvan Williams must be doing handstands having seen the decs and no way will the new fav T/Bleu win this.
This race couldn’t be more up Deep Purple’s street if Evan had picked what would run himself.
My advice is grab all the 3’s you can get NOW!!!.
October 30, 2009 at 19:27 #256273You probably knew this before I did, but I’m going to back Church Island.
In good form, will catch some of these not 100%, hopefully won’t be one of the ones to make a jumping error, doesn’t necessarily have to lead, 3m probably suits best.
Will also do in RFC with threadstor’s horse.

I haven’t the faintest idea what you’re on about, but just to clarify in short words :
I’m aware that most of the remaining five are front runners. That’s precisely what I was saying in my last post and it’s also what I stated in my earlier post.

October 30, 2009 at 20:04 #256281Not a betting race imo; horses for courses…c’mon Ollie!
October 30, 2009 at 20:23 #25628513/2 on BF for Snoopy Loopy looks decent enough. His 1/2 length 2nd to Monets Garden in the Peterborough is the best form in the race over the past 12 months and conditions should be ideal for him. You’d have to go back nearly 2 years to find Tamarinbleus best form and perhaps Ollie is just past it at this stage to be backing him at 3/1. Deep Purple is a danger but short enough given the possible stamina worries plus he wont get his own way out front either this time and might start sulking again. The Hourigan beast has a lot to find.
October 30, 2009 at 20:53 #256292I just don’t see how anyone can fancy Snoopy Loopy on these terms, especially given the form he has been in. Again, I really can’t see anything other than a Tamarinbleu or Ollie Magern victory. Most likely Tamarinbleu as he has a little bit more class and has the younger legs.
October 30, 2009 at 22:06 #256302I think Snoopy Loopy’s exertions last season have left him a broken horse. I hope I am wrong but it looks to me as if he will never reach those heights again. 18 runs from Jan 08 to Apr 09 are sure to have left their mark.

Can’t see Deep Purple attempting to make all in this. He’s a doubtful stayer anyway, and surely he’d be cutting his own throat taking on such as Ollie Magern and Tamarinbleu at what’s sure to be a helter-skelter pace?
For my money the best form at around this trip is Tamarinblue’s 2nd to Snoopy Loopy in last season’s Betfair Chase, when he would have surely won but for not quite lasting home. Interesting that D Pipe isn’t taking the same route this year, apparently preferring the likely faster ground and sharper new track at Wetherby to give the horse a better chance. It wouldn’t have gone un-noticed that he’s receiving weight from horses he should be giving 7lbs or more to either, and he ought to win this comfortably.
Whatever happens, it should be some spectacle for a 5 runner race.October 31, 2009 at 01:35 #256320I’ll be having an interest bet on Snoopy Loopy in the hope that they go too fast, thus allowing him to win by default, if you like.

Agreed! 5 runners yet 4 potential pacemakers!

October 31, 2009 at 15:09 #256421Looked to be struggling turning for home. Good ride. I expected him to be a non-stayer…..
