tumour discovered and will be out of action for a while.
Fingers crossed all will be well
March 28, 2018 at 15:56 #1348320Oh, dear. I hope he makes a full recovery. The last jockey to have received that diagnosis was the late Daniele Porcu last autumn.
I hope Pat is luckier and the treatment is a rapid and effective one. All the best to him!
March 28, 2018 at 16:12 #1348322Shocking news – hopefully it has been discovered early enough so that treatment will deal with it completely.
Needless to say Pat has all our best wishes for a speedy and full recovery from this medical issue so we can then see him back doing what he does best.
March 28, 2018 at 21:31 #1348350All thoughts with Pat Smullen and his family as he fights his way back to good health and hope to see him back in the saddle very soon.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 28, 2018 at 21:58 #1348353The flat season won’t be same without Pat, get well soon Mr Smullen

March 28, 2018 at 22:33 #1348355Terrible news, but thankfully there is so much more that they can do these
days and I’m hoping it wont be long before Pat gets the all clear. Unfortunately
there aren’t many families, my own included, who don’t find themselves dealing with
similar circumstances at some stage. My best wishes go to Pat and all his family.March 28, 2018 at 23:16 #1348357I can only echo what has been said above. Best wishes for a speedy, and total recovery Pat.
Best wishes to you , and your family BigG alsoMarch 29, 2018 at 11:45 #1348374This is really shocking and terrible news!
All the best to Pat Smullen and I deeply wish and hope for his full recovery!March 29, 2018 at 22:02 #1348436Get well soon Pat. He’ll be sorely missed for sure. Hopefully we will see him race riding again but lets just keep our fingers crossed he can get back to full health.
On a side note, who do you think will take up a lot of the big rides for the Weld stable this year?
I know Leigh Roche is the 2nd jockey and I’m sure he’ll be given a shot but connections may want to use a bigger name for the bigger races.
Colin Keane could pick up a few rides along the way depending on commitments.March 30, 2018 at 02:58 #1348457Get Well soon Pat Smullen, thoughts with you and your family.
