A false favorite for you Spitfire, well he is high up in the betting.
Weekend Hussler in the Melbourne Cup.
September 17, 2008 at 13:40 #181369For me Marten Julian is a true professional. In the past I have seen him on tee gallops and racing more than most trainers.
Terrific eye for a horse and has been a succesful owner himself.
He is also kniows several trainers, jockeys and countless stable staff persoanlly and very seldom would you hear a bad word said about the man.
Not my thing tiptsters but at least I can vouch for his integrity…..only other one I know is Carvillshill but he is too expensive
September 17, 2008 at 14:48 #181379I’m always intrigued about tipping services. In the paper they always make sure to provide results of their big winners.
In some adverts, it appears some tipsters found 4 or 5 winners on a Saturday at an average price of 15-1 and three different trifectas all paying over a grand.
So I think to myself – why the f@$! would you want to provide your knowledge the public, and why are you still working anyway? Where’s your island on the Pearl Qatar?
September 17, 2008 at 15:48 #181385Kieren Fallon… Ooops
September 17, 2008 at 15:51 #181386People only use tipsters so that they have someone else to blame when the horse loses.

Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
September 17, 2008 at 17:11 #181396thinking of joining a tipping service, but with many people just out to scam you,who is the best??? thanks
Waste of time Chris. Please don’t waste your money.
September 17, 2008 at 17:25 #181400I am probably the best tipster on the forum.
September 17, 2008 at 18:56 #181411Where’s the fun in using tipsters? I’d much rather study the form myself and decide for myself. Makes the winning so much nicer
And the loosing… well at least hasn’t cost me for it!
Tanya Stevenson from C4 is really good with her tips however, but wouldn’t pay if she had a phone line.
September 18, 2008 at 12:44 #181472You certainly don’t need to pay a premium for good tips because some of the people who write for the Racing Post etc certainly know more about the game than most of the telephone tipping merchants.
I tend to use my own judgement but do usually read the spotlight in the Racing Post in case I may have missed something obvious.

Although don’t rely on Muppettoft to spot things you may miss yourself. 66/1 The Cayterers on his first start since leaving Milton Bradley.

I tend to work with reverse psychology regarding Spotlight comments. If there’s a bad comment that I disagree with then so much the better, since it might cause the odds to lengthen.
There was a time when a bad comment from Spotlight would put me off, but I’ve learnt to trust my own judgement.

September 18, 2008 at 16:56 #181510I’m with Mr Deering on this one: If tipsters were THAT good, they’d be sunning themselves in Hawaii.
Use your own eyes and techniques to find winners. I’ve learnt the sorts of races I win money on and tend to concentrate my efforts on these races.
Nothing more satisfying than working out the winner of a race and seeing it win.

Did anybody get 66’s? I noticed the sp was 17/2.
September 18, 2008 at 20:54 #181544dont use tipping services,go on the evidence of your own eyes, and your gut, it wont happen overnight but you will get much more pleasure picking your own winners.
One of the best posts in ages mate. Absolutely spot on
September 19, 2008 at 23:41 #181679This lot (BlueSky Racing) seem to be doing well at the moment and if you look at the results have made 130+ points profit in each of the last 2 years.
September 20, 2008 at 09:26 #181690Geoff Persian Heights Huffer packed in training to try tipping, any news on how it’s going for Geoff.
September 20, 2008 at 19:16 #181757I thought Down’s ‘jolly-jape’ with the owner of Look Here the other day was a far greater crime.
"Oh do be a good sport and tell us what was wrong with her?"
"No, all you need to know is she’s fit."
"Oh you are a rascal, Sir, best of luck!"The great, good and crooked must shudder at the thought of the arch inquisitor brandishing his microphone. All very well hiding behind your pen, Ally; but sometimes the spoken word is a lot sharper.
Presumably you didn’t read Down’s RP article about the owner’s reluctance to speak about her injury. It was certainly critical of him.
