I’m mucking about waiting for Cheptstow to start on the telly having given Cottenham a miss due to the uncertainty of the weather.
I venture to suggest that the best horse seen in Britain this year did not have a name ending in "STAR".
That is because IMHO he was not a racehorse but a beautiful black stallion called Moorlands Totilas. Twice he has competed here, at Windsor in the European Dressage Championships and a couple of weeks ago at the Olympia christmas show in the Freestyle to Music World Cup qualifier.
I watched the latter live on the Red Button. Quite magnificent and broke the world record for a Dressage Score. It is on YouTube, watch and wonder at the lovely horse, his fine rider, performing in front of a packed house.
No doubt the racing purists will want me kicked off the forum for this, but those who love horses just for their own sake will know what I mean.
December 28, 2009 at 13:24 #266071Have to agree; he sends shivers up my spine! The discipline that he was rubbish at must have been sorted looking at his last score as well. Poor Parzifal must feel like Richard Johnson. Can’t believe that I actually want to go and see a horse do dressage!! Absolute perfection.
