Gee she returned in stunning fashion today in the Sapphire Stakes over 1200. She really has come from another planet altogether this filly. I promise you you won’t see a better one in your lifetime irrespective of your age. Can’t wait to see her punish quality opposition in the spring. Cox Plate will be a jog in the park, hell I’ve no doubt she could win the Melbourne Cup as well if she so desired but I very mush doubt she’ll go there.

I’m just lost for words as to just how good she could be. Take a look at todays race http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VL2od_vyQDY

…you sound as though you’ve not been following racing for all that long…

you should know that, in Europe, 12 furlongs or 2400m to you, is King – nothing else will do, not the Diamond Jubilee, 2000 Guineas or Champion Stakes, it’s all about the Derby and Arc. Even the most ardent Frankel admirers are beginning to panic that their loved one may for ever only be known as a ‘miler’….

..as for winning the Yellowglen Sapphire Stakes at Randwick [group 2], I would be surprised if it carries much weight over here, but best of luck to you for trying.

If anything it confirms one thing, that the horses Black Caviar has been beating regularly are probably not much better than handicappers over here, [like most of our sprinters], as the 2nd, an old stager called Mid Summer Music, [well trounced], has form with all of them.

Unless a horse travels to beat the world’s best, either in the Breeders Cups, World Cups or the best races in the far east, they’re all only ever the best in their own country.

Exactly what I was expecting to be honest. A snarky reply from someone who thinks they know all. Gotta love it. I guess haters will be haters.

    Sure the

    Group 2 Sapphire Stakes

was nothing special but I never said it was and what more can you ask for from a first up run. What about the Cox Plate, you folk consider that a half decent race?

Perhaps this is the first time you’ve seen the horse run so I’ll be a little forgiving in this instance. In case you didn’t realise she’s already won over 10 furlongs in a hand canter and was to go around a 7-1 on favourite in the oaks over 2500m before succumbing to an injury.

I don’t want to sound arrogant here but the only horse I’ve seen out of Europe so far that would offer her a challenge in an Arc or Derby is Camelot and he looks pretty damned good. If I was to compare her to So You Think in my books there is no comparison she is streets ahead of him. He was atrociously overhyped. Very good racehorse but no world beater.

Atlantic Jewel however, she is a world beater. A wet track might be her only issue, but other than that I assure you nothing will get in her way. By the time she’s done you’ll be choking for superlatives and swallowing the bitter taste of pride.

But hey all the best to you.

…She races in Australia and is unlikely it seems to race anywhere else. This is a mainly British/Irish forum focused primarily on those that race in Europe. The racing culture is different here. Not necessarily better – we have different expectations.

You can pursue an agenda in a vain attempt at getting people to see what you see, but I would hazard a guess that it would be lost on most members.

…I love Australian racing, I think it’s terrific the way they go about things, sometimes racing very good horses over such a variety of distances – spectacular in this case – we rarely see that here, but fillies and mares usually excel where or when there is a dearth of the very best colts, – you only have to look at the form of Mosheen to see that – this is something we have not suffered from in recent years in Europe – except in sprints which Australia tends to specialise in.

    …good luck.

I think you better look at Mosheen’s latest form! They are a lot better than handicappers there i assure you.

You would think, without second guessing Kavanagh, that her trek during the spring would be the Turnbull Stakes, Craiglee Stakes, Caulfield Stakes and Cox Plate.

I think Barakey knows a bit more about form than you Ugly Mare,as for Black Caviar beating no better than your handicappers, dream on and keep telling yourself that:) As for Atlantic Jewel she sat 4 deep the whole trip, had them covered in a few strides, bolted in eased down running the 1200m in 1 min 8.9 secs!!! The Group 1 TJ Smith was run in around 1min 8.8 secs It is a million $ race and Black Caviar and Takeover Target have won it within the last 4 years,Atlantic Jewel would have won the T J Smith easily. To me she has been every bit as impressive as Black Caviar if not more so in the fact she does the same no matter what distance she races over. She will more than match it with any horse in the world. You always cherry pick:) you mentioned a while back that Atlantic Jewel only beat Mosheen:) since you mentioned that Mosheen has had 6 starts 5 wins a nose 2nd and won 4 group 1 races!! So i think Barakey has you covered pretty well in racing knowledge

…yes I know you think I’m fantastic jollyp but you don’t have to keep telling me….

…yes very true, we don’t see it often enough do we…?

She’s been nominated for the G1 All-Aged Stakes at Randwick over 1400m on Saturday. Rain Affair (nice sprinter). King Mufhasa (Kiwi multiple G1 winner). She has the race at her mercy.

She looks a cracker. Let’s hope for racing’s sake that she doesn’t go down the road of Black Caviar; beating a bunch of trees at 25/1 on etc and gets to take on some decent opposition.

Coolmore also have Irish star three year old filly, Maybe.

    Lucky guys ! :)

Maybe you should do your form instead of making uninformed comments. In the T J Smith, Black Caviar beat in a field of 11, 8 Group 1 winners in the best sprinting nation in the world! One trick pony!

I don’t know if i’d be trusting Australian racing. Look at Phar Lap, or a horse recently trained by Black Caviars trainer who tested positive for banned substances, lethal Arrow. Obviously some substances can go undetectable, so maybe there are questions over Black Caviar. The same may apply to trainers everywhere. Can you really trust anyone ?
