Have added savers with Highland Lodge and The Young Master who has the benefit (hopefully) of SW Cohen. There is none more skilful over these fences and his 3lb claim must be about the most valuable in the business.

Skybet offer money back up to £25 as a free bet if your horse finishes 2nd, 3rd, or 4th

    Good luck all

As I am already on Midnight Prayer and my other one doesn’t run I have had a few pennies each way on BEEVES at 40/1 and I have also backed DARE TO ENDEAVOUR at 16/1 cos I have to have one that has experience of these fences.

Fingers crossed for the exacta now!! :good: :good:

Okay, my cunning plan I mentioned before was ” I’ll wait till I see how they finally thin
out”…..well that went well didn’t it

THE YOUNG MASTER, with The Last Samuri standing his ground runs off
11-3, with the best Aintree jockey on his back, who also gets a 3lb allowance, and
he’s 12/1……… really??…..really???. I’ve had mixed emotions about him running,
I think he’s a National winner in waiting and it’s not in his interest to win this.
If he’s primed for this, and I’m not sure he will be, then I can’t think of a reason he
wouldn’t win. So, I’m having a bet on him, and I can’t lose. If he wins I’ll have enough
on to make it worth my while, and he’ll just have to take his chance lumbering round a
few more pounds in the National, and if he loses, but runs a sound race, I’ll be equally
quite happy with my ante post. I can’t recall ever being in a position like that before.

I wasn’t sure if COGRY would make it in, or even if this would be in
NTD’s plans to run here. He could have been kept sweet for the Welsh National, but as I
mentioned before, if NTD ran him in this I think he could be testing the water for the
National. His run in the Midlands National in March, a decent 3rd after being hampered
at the last, confirms the distance wouldn’t be an issue, so if he takes to these fences
he could be Aintree bound, although he’d need a sizable jump up the handicap to make it
this year, but at 7 he has time on his side. He sneaks in on 10-1 for this one, and I liked
the way he was travelling last time out at Cheltenham, unlucky to be BD at the 12th when
travelling well in 3rd. At the weights I think he could have a real chance if he takes to
these fences, and whilst that’s maybe a big “if”, I think 16/1 looks worth a bet.

Looks a great race, good luck whatever you’re on :good:

Saint Are for me. Hopefully the better ground will suit. I was very tempted by TYM especially with SWC in the plate so he will now probably win.

Excellent thread, great discussion on this race. I’m not going to have a bet but if someone gave me £20 I’d put a tenner on both Cogry and Sizing Coal.

Cogry, two recent runs, his first at Cheltenham when falling at the first and then brought down last time when travelling well (as BigG stated above). Concerned about the age though as the stats don’t lie in this type of race.

Sizing Coal won well last time out and looked like the step up in trip would suit over these fences. The form of that race hasn’t worked out particularly well though and that’s why I haven’t enough enthusiasm to back.
All in all, another quiet-ish betting weekend for me.

If he’s primed for this, and I’m not sure he will be,

That was my thinking on The Young Master, BigG and why I left him out.
Same for The Last Samuri (saver, not main bet for me).

    Good luck everyone.

Shutthefrontdoor has been laid out for this at 16/1,he doesnt really get the National trip so this extended 3m will suit perfectly,he jumps round Aintree easily and I notice connections have pulled the 12/1fav ‘Minella Rocco’ out. That speaks volumes to me.

Laid out my A*se! Thats just cost me a £50 e/w bet at 16/1! :negative: When TAPK’s backs to the wall he comes out fighting and we all know what that means…..Vieux Lion Rouge at 12/1 will win now. B-)

That ones for you Ginge…My name is ‘TAPK’ and the legendary one at that. B-)

Can’t believe Ziga Boy was brought down at the first, I was very confident, and to get brought down by Saint Are :negative:

Well done Gord, Ginger, and Nulty.

Well done Nulty and Gord, and a good saver Ginge :good:

Racingorchid and Joe, you must be absolutely sick at that, he looked
the certain winner until he just ran out of gas in the last 100 yards.
A great run, but bad luck guys :-(

That was a sickener Bobby. I didn’t fare much better with Cogry who came down at the 2nd. There
was obviously a lot of confidence in the NTD yard, who like a bet….he was bet down from 16s to
12s in the last couple of minutes before the off. I thought it was a good sign, but short lived :-(

Cheers Bob,obviously I wasn’t as confident as Ginge but I did say he’d run well…..
