March 2, 2005 at 21:04 #58531Seven Towers,
Aston’s ‘Highest Rated’ refers to the RPR (Racing Post Rating, formerly ‘Postmark’).
In the 4:55 at Wetherby, Gatorade and King Of The Arctic were both CD winners, placed in at least one of their last two starts, but had the same RPR, thus no bet qualified.
Double Agent had finished third on his penultimate start, but, with only five runners in that heat, was not ‘placed’.
Hope this helps! You got me thinking anyway!
March 2, 2005 at 21:31 #58534Aah now the penny drops, I was taking things too literally I was thinking that top rated meant top on official ratings and I didn’t bother to check whether the 3 next to the horses name meant they were 3rd in a 12 or a 5 runner race…. A very interesting system nonetheless. I must say this has been one of the best threads on here for a long time IMHO. It’s been intriguing to see how the competition has developed…

March 4, 2005 at 08:55 #58540Nail biting stuff.
Best of luck to all concerned.
I can see me just getting pipped as a result of having more selections than my rivals, and hence more losers.
Thanks again to Cormack for running the comp, and to all the stable leaders who spent time checking selections, especially NV, who has undoubtedly heaped good luck on the system.
March 4, 2005 at 12:29 #58542A great idea by Cormack and excellently organised and run. Competitions like this, and Johnny B’s naps comp, spice up the forum.
I think we have demonstrated to those that initially scoffed that 5 minute systems can hold their own, and it has highlighted some interesting ideas and approaches that people take.
Best of luck to all.
We have a new leader after Lookingforawinner has a winner at 11/4 (his stakes were split today as there were jt favs in his race). He has now edged past Aston as we move into the last day, leaving us with a cliffhanger.
Two losers for Grasshopper sees him slip into fourth and leaves him with a bit to find while Letsgetracing had another blank day and looking at his selections for tomorrow he may have it all to do.
Empty Wallet’s challenge, however, is sadly at an end. Two losers today and no selection tomorrow means he can no longer win. Thanks for playing though e/w!
So, last day tomorrow and with plenty runners all round it looks like being exciting. Good Luck to all four left in with a chance!
