    Chezza never formally met Barry to speak to – though Chezza saw him at the track loads and occasionally bet with him – but used to have banter with him on the Betfair Forum.

    The banter turned to height one day and apparently Barry is 6ft 1.

    Chezza claimed he was exactly 6ft to which Barry immediately replied: “That means you’re 5ft 11. No one is exactly 6ft.”

    Barry got Chezza bang to rights, Chezza was something like 5ft 11 and three quarters, but Chezza never quite made the big SIX-O.

    Witty guy – and perceptive too.

    He had a stroke during covid. He attended Lingfield as a spectator a few times early last year. Have not seen him for ages.

    Another one I’d written off years ago. I thought I’d heard he had passed away on the Morning Line (shows how long ago it was). Sorry Barry.
