Does anyone know where I can locate a bookmaker whose name would not appear on my bank transactions, please? At present I’m with Ladbrokes but I’d rather their name did not appear on my statements.
ThanksJanuary 22, 2009 at 17:27 #205762Ken,
You want to use an intermediary like PayPay although as far as I’m aware PayPal themselves aren’t supported by any bookies.
You can however use QuickPay (an equivalent). You then deposit your money into a Western Union account and credit your bookie of choice from them. QuickPay can be used for funding anything so it would not be recognisable as a betting account deposit.
There are small charges associated with this method though.
As an example only, below is a cutting from the Coral FAQ page;
——————————-
Western Union
If you wish to open an account with a Western Union payment, simply click on the "open account" button on the header of each page, fill out the form and choose "Western Union" in the field "Method of payment".You can make your payment from any Western Union Agency. Ask for a Quick Pay form and fill it in:
Payable to:
Company name: Brickagent Enterprises LtdCode City: Brickagent, UK
After you have made your payment please fax the receipt to our Customer Service team on + 44 1483 747097.
Please note Western Union charges vary according to the amount of money transferred and will be met by the client.———————————-

A number of bookmakers now allow you to deposit by PayPal – Ladbrokes, VCBet and Betfair among them – as well as other intermediary services such as Neteller and Moneybookers.
Both Ladbrokes and William Hill also provide the facility to deposit money into an internet account in cash through most of their shops (Hills use the Quick Cash system, whilst Ladbrokes either swipe your account card or registered debit/credit card).
And, if that wasn’t enough, if you bank with Barclays you can make immediate transfers to William Hill (processed as a bill payment) and apply your own reference number.
January 23, 2009 at 00:12 #205886You need to credit the mrs with some intelligence. How long do you think it will take her to figure out what the transactions that you to say Ladbrokes/William Hill etc etc, now say Paypal or Western Union.
January 23, 2009 at 00:39 #205892You should be open about your filthy, grubby little habit to ‘er indoors. I have told my bit that I bet (and tonight I even made her switch Frasier off in favour off the 6.55 at Nad al Sheba), just haven’t told her the exact sums involved. I like my balls in a sack, not on a plate.

Why is it something to be hidden? Is the fact that you are hiding it not indicative of a different problem?

I’m not in a position to question anybody’s approach to betting – and nor would I be so presumptuous as to ever think I was – or indeed their personal circumstances, but it doesn’t seem sensible to be hiding something of this nature.
I can understand any issue surrounding the use of joint monies for the purposes of betting, but does ‘covering’ the act make it any better?
January 23, 2009 at 13:04 #205991Damned if I can see where Ken said he was hiding it from his wife. I use a differnt bank/ bank acount for my betting as I do for business or my normal personal use and have done for years. If you ever need a loan e.g. you won’t get veryfar if theyfind out your a gambler….They immediately assume you are a high risk.
January 23, 2009 at 13:29 #205995Yes Fist, I imagine you’re dead right. Then, there’s the explanations to the Official Receiver as to where all the Company funds have gone. The suggestion about using an intermediary account like PayPal seems best.
Really, this is not wanting to hide anything from anyone other than I suppose I belong to a generation where there was a stigma attached to gambling and these things were best kept private and certainly away from your bank manager.
Thanks everyone.
Though based on 2009 transactions, including failed systems, they would see that I’m up £5 from L’Brokes.January 23, 2009 at 19:06 #206069be careful ken, ladbrokes might shut you down!
