I’m struggling a bit to be honest. I can’t watch Irish racing as they don’t show it on W Hill so these races are being won by horses that I don’t really know.
March 15, 2023 at 13:56 #1639474“Second Gd1 Nov H’dle and none of the UK horses sighted; a whole season of watching novice hurdles meaning nothing….
Not great…..”
Been thinking much the same. I did pick an Irish horse though, in this; just the wrong one
March 15, 2023 at 13:57 #1639475I think it was to be expected in the Supreme to some extent as Tahmuras was apparently our best and he didn’t ever look special but Hermes Allen was very disappointing today and that stat about the Challow Hurdle rumbles on.
March 15, 2023 at 13:57 #1639476I couldn’t care less, tbh.
I watch all the Irish racing too – it’s all just racing to me.
An Irish-trained 5/2 winner pays out the same as a British-trained 5/2 winner.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"March 15, 2023 at 13:58 #1639477Mullins on RTV speculating about the Champion Hurdle next year.
March 15, 2023 at 14:00 #1639478I wouldn’t be getting that excited about the winner fwiw, easily the best but I’m not sure Gaelic Warrior stayed and for all you’d be worried about his right handed jumping, Champ Kiely made Gaelic Warrior look pretty straightforward. Possibly not the strongest race for all the winner was very good.

Jockey has just been interviewed on RTV and says the horse wants further.
March 15, 2023 at 14:02 #1639482Patrick said he thought Gaelic Warrior needs further…
Blackbeard to conquer the World
March 15, 2023 at 14:02 #1639483I have to admit to struggling to watch the Irish racing. There’s a couple of commentators who really irritate me so I can’t enjoy it as much.
But I’m gonna have to start paying closer attention to the form.
It’s 6-2. With Britain’s wins coming via a race they always win and a freak.
What’s most concerning though is that the place horses are pretty much all Irish as well and it’s 10/20/30 lengths back to the first British runner.
March 15, 2023 at 14:06 #1639487Different opinions I guess, he’s the jockey so he’d know better but I saw a horse that was keen in bits and had Champ Kiely coming back at him up the hill despite taking a very scenic route of Prestbury Park.

March 15, 2023 at 14:10 #16394927/1 Impaire En Passé the 2024 Champion Hurdle would only be a good bet if you knew he was going for it and knew Constitution Hill wasn’t.

In fact, most of my bets this week are on Irish-trained horses.
It was just merely an observation, from me, that some (what we thought were) decent Brit-trained horses are obs a fair way behind the best Irish horses.McCoy summed it up well today – “Irish racing is better and a lot more competitive”.
FWIW
(and i made a similar point a few weeks ago)
British horse racing, esp the Jumps, is very insular looking; a clique runs it, trains in it, owns the horses. The lads and lasses, at the stables, are from different backgrounds BUT the main public figures are not. It’s a chummy community is NH racing in the UK. -
