As stated previously the reason Coolmore don’t send their horses to Dubai, is that it comes to early in the British and Irish season.
This was 1 of the reasons for the Boycott of Coolmore sires by Sheik MO plus Sheik Mo didn’t like the fact that Coolmore sent a women as there representative when they did have a runner at the DWC meeting. Although that women was Tammy Twomey, Coolmore’s Racing Manager
This is when Sheik Mo decided to throw his toys out of the pram and stopped buying Coolmore stock

But this decision has been vindicated with their continual success and global domination of the stallion market…oh wait, that is Coolmore!
May 26, 2008 at 20:05 #165494I have an admittedly vague memory of reading somewhere that Aidan O’Brien said that Powerscourt had a pretty poor time in Dubai. I really wonder what Tammy Twomey’s time there was like – perhaps an interesting story.

Don’t think, however, that the cool reception had to do with her gender but rather with the Sheik’s feeling that AOB should have come to Dubai. Does anyone know anything more?
May 27, 2008 at 02:59 #165503aidan would probably go to dubai if they paid him enough.
May 27, 2008 at 08:45 #165520Aidan’s a horseman, not one to be influended by a chequebook. Personally speaking, of course!
May 28, 2008 at 14:12 #165717I know you must be joking. I know of no recorded instance where the offer of the Godolfins was turned down by horsemen, their wives, their lovers, or their trainers.I don’t have the same exalted opinion of horsemen as you.Are not horse trainers universally admired for their ability to transfer large sums of money from the pockets of others to their own?

THE famous dark blue colours of Coolmore Stud’s Sue and John Magnier will be represented at the 2009 Dubai International Racing Carnival, through the leading South African-trained filly Front House.
August 25, 2008 at 00:45 #178076Given that Sheik Mohammed his gone out a bought sons of Coolmore horses privatly why do they persist n not buying them at the sales, the sheik could have bought New Appraoch as a yearling for crying out loud…
It would be interesting too see the Coolmore Gang accepting a trophy from the sheiks at nadal sheba…
August 26, 2008 at 13:18 #178223Coolmore went behind the Shiekh’s back and got Hurricane Run that way.End of friendship. As for Rags to Riches she got the filly’s allowance. No more and no less.

That’s not the story I’ve heard. The version I’ve heard was that Coolmore were prepared to let him run in the colours of the vendor in the Irish Derby, Sheikh Mohammed wasn’t.

Which of course is the correct version DJ. I am not sure how Coolmore "could have gone behind the Sheikh’s back" anyway.
August 26, 2008 at 13:52 #178236That’s what I heard too
August 26, 2008 at 14:49 #178243That story is also part of the backroom deal.I was too tired to relate all the "stories".I wrote my post at 4am.But you are correct. That is what the public were led to believe. However if that was a deal breaker I feel the Arabs would have waited a year to take over the horse. They have since that agreed to deals like the ones with the Bolgers.
