For the last month or so I have been enduring the worst run of luck since I started betting on a regular basis almost 2 years ago. I used to just bet in cash as my student bank A/C was badly in the red. I always made a few extra quid each week through college from punting and infact paid off my student debt from my winnings!! In order to keep track of it all I set up a bank A/C for betting at the start of October!!
.
Over the last month or so I have had winners but sadly they are few and far between my loosing bets. I havent started betting more either!!Lately everyhorse I back seems to be cursed. They are always in rear, pulled up, fall, interfered with, bad ride and so on.
It doesnt matter if its the jolly or an outsider, they all seem to be running backwards!!
If I back win only the horse is destined to finish second or last, if I back e/w its destiny is fourth or last.
Im loosing serious confidence in my methods that up until recently had been very profitable.

Has anyone else ever had such a change in luck that lasted so many weeks, should I take a break and rethink my methods or just plug on and assume my luck will change.

My bad luck started at the Fairyhouse meeting in Dec when Michael D fell at the last. If he had of stayed on his feet I would of been onto a huge payout from a 5 horse accumulator.

Since then I have lost far more than I have won. My betting A/C was showing a profit of 450% from October to December with around 2,500 euro balance but now its nearly all gone. Granted I did withdraw a good bit over the holidays from it.
I only have a couple of 100 euro left in it now and would like to get back on track!!
Given that my luck has been so bad lately I would greatly welcome any NAP’s from some of the more learned and profitable punters on here over the coming days.

Any helpful advice also welcome!!
There lies one of your problems Fitzer, have a Lucky 31 if you fancy a 5 timer,at least you would have had 15 bets up and still made a profit! Personally, finding one winner is hard enough,so i am happy to settle with that once a week if i"m lucky!
January 12, 2011 at 20:36 #335609I’m not sure HM has had a bad run, "since the old king died", but I believe it’s said that even every pro punter has long losing runs sometimes.
You had one month of seconds and everything bar winning! I must have had months on end, during one spell last
year. But then I don’t have the discipline they have. Like you it had helped pay bills for quite a while … and then the mockers.Actually, I don’t think I was the only one at that time, as there were many strange results. But it makes you realise at least something of how hard a game this is. If "game" it can be called.
Advice? Follow HM blind! Up to a point. I sometimes disagree, but he’s proved his royal bloodline right the way back to Nathan Detroit.

Had a run in 2 Months must have done 3k. I had many 2 bets each week but just everything went wrong. The Key to success is maybe having a notebook and only back horses in that notebook. Thats what i usually do and i put Big Bets of 200-500 depending on price and my confidence.
Keep to a plan and it turn good no doubt about it
January 12, 2011 at 22:13 #335630You can probably make a bit up by arbing. As you’ve made losses the bookmakers probably won’t restrict your account. My preferred arb is e/w in 17 runner handicaps. Go on oddschecker . Find a bookmaker offering say 16-1 on a horse when Betfair is about the same. You will get 4/1 for the place but Betfair will be around 3.5/1. Lay for the win (and if you have to, lay for the place) and away you go. Watch out for non-runners though.

You might find it hard too but your probaly better off
January 12, 2011 at 23:57 #335642Should of taken the TAPK advice and avoided the accumulators they will be the death of me!!
Really fancied that I had the card at Kempton today sussed. So I had a small bet on a 5 fold accum!! What do you know 4 went in and the only one to let me down was the only odds on selection I had. Of course it was Camps Bay ridden by Hayley Turner I taught he was all over the winner in the straight and I think she did too only to be beaten a head in the end!!
Very painfull as my last selection But Beautiful then went in, well just about on the line in the next. What a climax that would of been.

The almost 200/1 accum would of been very welcome.

Ah well tomorrows another day. Was thinking about lumping on Bishopsfurze at evens tomorrow at Thurles I am sure he will be odds on in the morning. Although if I back him in a single he has no chance.
