Consolation race for The Ayr Gold Cup….
https://www.racingpost.com/racecards/3/ayr/2019-09-21/738024
Like The Bronze Cup, Final Field is hard to gauge, and last year’s range of 97 to 86, could only be taken as a rough guide.
The one I really like is Dave Dexter, but there has to be concerns over the weather forecast with him.
Conversely, the forecast would be of no concern for Barbill, who I think has had a better season than it looks, though I do also like him for the big one.
Others of interest include….
Golden Apollo
Lancelot Du Lac
Poyle Vinnie
Ptarmigan Ridge
Tinto
Wise CounselSeptember 19, 2019 at 22:22 #1459019Hope a few winners about for you Buckers, and weather’s been kind so far.
With none of my shortlist trapping, I like both the ones you mention. Can give Get Knotted a massive chance off of this mark, but I will stick with Venturous, I just can’t see him as a 33-1 shot. I’ve only bet him win only at the moment, but I will top up when max places available.
I’ll only be with one here, as The Ayr Gold Cup might have me triple handed, but if I was having another go, I’d be very interested in Magical Wish.
Venturous 33’s
September 20, 2019 at 14:33 #1459039Having backed Admirality for the Bunbury Cup off this mark at a very similar price to his generally available 14’s here I’d be kicking myself if I didn’t follow him in again here off top weight if he wins.
Venturous is a nice one at 33’s VTC I backed him at big prices in the Stewards Cup consolation where he went close and this looks a similar opportunity, unfortunately I can only get 20’s with my Bookmakers so I’ll let him go for now unless he drifted out.
I thought everything looked wrong on paper here for Lincoln Park judged by his form over 7F on softer ground but Oisin Murphy really catches the eye as a jockey booking and I can see him blazing out and trying to make it a real test from the front from Stall 7 and he might just outrun his odds.
September 20, 2019 at 21:43 #1459151Followed VTC on to Venturous, settled for 20/1. Has run well at Ayr staying on behind Arecibo over 5f (that one is prominent in the betting for the Gold Cup). Put in a very respectable effort in a valuable handicap in Ireland last week behind the Gold Cup fav Buffer Zone. Lycka Till!
September 21, 2019 at 08:57 #1459186Fahey doesn’t have a bad record in the race with a winner and quite a few in the money in recent years….While not having run as well the last twice, i think if Red Balloons runs one of better races, she’s got a better chance than 33/1 suggests (bigger on exchange too). Three runs back her run behind Royal Intervention is decent and she has some big field form winning at York at 33/1 very easily. Hopefully as the pacemaps suggest she’ll have a good target to run at. Jockey a positive round here too.
Added Glenamoy Lad- softly handled lto, in a big field will suit his hold up style. 18/1

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!September 21, 2019 at 09:16 #1459190Can’t see much past progressive sort ALKARAAMA here. Upwardly mobile all season and a belter of a run at Ascot last time.
Roger Fell has had a really good season and a slightly longer price Admiralty shouldn’t be too far away.September 21, 2019 at 09:40 #1459194I think that Get Knotted at 16/1 could run a big race here. He might
be more thought of as a 7f specialist but I think that with the Gold/Silver Cups
being run at the frantic pace they always are, you practically need to get more
than 6f. His form has been more than a bit patchy since his last win at York a year
past in July, but his mark of 87 is the lowest he’s had in the past 3 years. He was
also entered in the 7f handicap later in the card, but Michael Dods has decided to
take his chance here. I think Dods is one of the best sprint trainers on the go, so
that’s a good enough pointer for me.September 21, 2019 at 10:24 #1459204GOLDEN APPOLO ew 16/1
Was only 3/4 lengths behind todays race favourite Alkaraama at Ascot when 4th drawn in stall 2. The first 3 home were drawn between 8 and 14.
Golden Appolo is again drawn lower than that rival but there may not be much in it, The Golden One has experience on his side and could beat the fav today in this huge field though the fav must not be ruled out here for Sir Michael.
September 21, 2019 at 11:21 #1459247I really think that Magical Wish will run well here, but the market doesn’t agree.
I’ll stick with just the one here, and added the EW to Venturous, 22’s to six places.
September 21, 2019 at 15:26 #1459575Nicely done Potato
September 21, 2019 at 15:28 #1459576Very nice indeed potato, and great price you picked up at 16s

I’m happy enough, and I’m sure Buckers and Jeff will be too, with
Get Knotted. Ran really well and perhaps could have done with another
1/2f, but 4th at 16s fits the bill.September 21, 2019 at 17:24 #1459583Thank you gents.
September 21, 2019 at 18:48 #1459604Congrats Spudman, This is a weekend I tend to do well enough at. Today was woeful. Always learning.
September 25, 2019 at 22:30 #1462890Very well done Potato
