Dandy Nicholls is always the place to start having won last years race and half of the previous 10 runnings of the race. Dandy hasn’t had the year he would have hoped this time round and I’m going to leave his alone for now.
Hoof It get 10-5 but it’s not clear whether he’ll be there on the day. If he is then Regal Parade makes some appeal at 25/1. Still hard to bet confidently AP with a horse that wants cut at a track that provides cut fairly reliably. The form of the yard exacerbates that inclination.
I’m very interested in Kaldoun Kingdom here at 33/1. Fahey has a decent record in the race and his previous winner has a similar profile to Kaldoun Kingdom. Fonthill Road ran in the Silver Cup in 04 and then finished second in the Gold Cup the following year before winning it in 06. Kaldoun won the Silver Cup in 09 and had a had a rough time of it off a high mark last year but ran well off 97 claiming 7lbs last time and looks to have the pattern of a horse being prepared for the race at Ayr. The other Fahey horse I’d keep on side is Brave Prospector who has fallen in the weights aswell and has won at Donny and York off his current mark and higher. His impact since joining Fahey has been minimal though and not as appealing at Kaldoun Kingdom.
Those are my initial thoughts. Can’t see the weights because the RP card isn’t coming up for me but a horse of 98 should be carrying around 8-11.
August 30, 2011 at 21:12 #369555One of those nightmare races that draws me in like a moth !! ground ? the draw ? high enough to get in ?
Kanaf ran a stormer last time at York , but a few of the fancied runners my go in the Portland.
The Great St Wilfred could prove a good pointer and Our Jonathan caught my eye. Wouldnt mind soft ground and at 20’s e/way he may be my ante post punt.September 3, 2011 at 16:27 #369802Quite fancy Son of the Cat in this. Won well at Goodwood earlier this summer and then ran a smashing race at Newmarket last week when he ran on well for 2nd after initially being outpaced.
He had Macs Power behind him that day (listed race).
Son of the Cat has definately improved this summer. He enjoys the hurly burly of a big field handicap and is still relatively lightly raced.
Macs Power is 12s, Son of the Cat is 25s!
Just need to be sure Brian Gubby will go for this.
September 4, 2011 at 06:59 #369857If Parisian Pyramid wins at York today, the resultant penalty should ensure he gets a run in the Gold Cup when I think he would be a decent EW prospect.
September 4, 2011 at 11:02 #369875I’ve come round to the fact that that Kaldoun Kingdom won’t get in.
Parisin Pyramid doesn’t go well at Ayr and can’t see him winning the AGC off the mark he’ll be required to race off. I’m all over him today though.

is much better than his effort on the weekend. He is now over priced at 25/1 for the feature at Ayr which ought to be run on much easier ground. Same goes for
Dungannon
who’s now 33/1. Both are guaranteed runs.
September 12, 2011 at 16:35 #370791Last bet in the race for me is
Croisultan
who I backed last night with Bet365 at 50/1. They shortened it but he’s available with other firms at that price. Worth closer inspection I suggest.
September 13, 2011 at 21:40 #370888Parisian Pyramid
in the
Silver Cup
is another matter altogether. 16/1 looks generous after the two displays he’s after putting up. Wrong side in the Great St Wilfrid and beaten by Internationaldebut last time who went on the trash another big field next time at Doncaster. Should be pushing for favouritism or at least just behind York Glory if you ask me.
September 13, 2011 at 22:15 #370893Which race will NASRI be in i think he has a big chance in either race.
And i think MACS POWER will win Gold cup.
September 14, 2011 at 17:07 #370947Nasri & Kaldoun Kingdom here

reasons obvious

there’s another one nulty
September 14, 2011 at 19:56 #370962Well, Lenabane didn’t win BB
and I had him on the nose @ 20/1
Kaldoun Kingdom
can finish in the first 4 but
Croisultan
is the one I’ll be urging on Saturday

This could be the beginning of a punting relationship BB
September 14, 2011 at 20:54 #370968Our Johnathan in the gold
Parisan Pyramid in the Silver
Cheveton in the bronzethat was easy
September 14, 2011 at 22:08 #370979I add Nasri to my bet in the gold cup if he goes there as well.

My par for a Class 2 race is
96
so any horse that did not achieve this figure was eliminated, leaving 27 races.
I have to mention while doing this task, a dark horse of Richard Fahey’s jumped off the page and that was
Mayson
, his only speed figure this season was
92
, he is bound to improve on this figure and it looks like he has been laid out for the race.
