With this news coming on the day of a cracking jumps card at Chepstow, this is why the winter game wins hands down with me.

No surprise. When the grey would have handed out another good beating , the stud value would have reduced further. not saying Australia isn’t injured but I have my suspicions :?

Don’t worry: AOB has got the best he’s ever trained coming through next season.

Historically, how many of the other top Coolmore stallion prospects were retired a month early due to injury?

Would be interesting to see if there’s any correlation between an early retirement and a sub-par stud career.

That’s another Derby winner retired at three.

Meanwhile Carruthers begins his umpteenth season over the sticks at Chepstow today.

Fine horse – not the all-time champion he was hinted (strongly! lol) as being maybe, but a very, very good racehorse all the same.

He surely has every chance of making the grade as a top stallion.

If they could earn multi-millions from Carruthers at stud you wouldn’t see the horsebox leaving Chepstow it’d be moving that fast TYF!

:D Yep Corm , money moves mountains …for sure . but TYF has a strong point

Bring on the proper racing , the flat season has been a disappointment not too many highs,,in fact the only excitement was the brilliance of Kingman .. and possibly the King George winner , the rest was bland

    Lets have the jumping now

They should have given him a spin in the National by now, with the fences being so soft.

I wouldn’t think twice about running a staying chaser in it for the money on offer, now it’s just another long distance chase.

Regards Australia, he looked pretty much injured to me from the pictures on the Morning Line.

It is 2014, you can make pretty much anything look like pretty much anything if you want to.

On a serious note, there’s a strange lack of Coolmore hype in their initial press releases since Australia’s retirement.

"He was faster than Galileo" and "placed in one of the best 2000 Guineas of the century" aren’t the most ringing endorsements by their standards.

Visually, she looked awesome when it was happening. But when the moment was processed in the mind, I couldn’t help but think that it was an overall disappointing animal doing what she was entitled to do to a very poor Arc field. Wasn’t Taghrooda one of the favourites without having atoned for her Yorkshire Oaks flop?

Come to think of it, when was the last Champion v Champion v Champion Arc?

I can appreciate how others enjoy the flat but I’m firmly in the Yay Chepstow! camp.

I thought he was a extremely good horse with potential to improve again at 4 years old looking at his breeding and how green he was as a two year old.

I’ve just bumped into Richard and Richard and Richard and told them Australia wont be running in the QE11.

    They seem happy enough……. :D

Disappointing, but money talks; I see Coolmore splashed out over 2 million at the sales last week, so the money has to come from somewhere. I fear that the breeding tail wagging the racing horse may be the death of flat racing; there is so much competition now from other sports, retiring the champions at 3 and 4 makes no sense.
    Bring on the NH!!
