Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 12, 2017 at 23:25 #1291520Looks like the League, and the competition in general, has had a week in limbo.
It’s understandable with the biggest week in the competition just about to get
underway. Good luck to those chasing the competition outright, but even outwith
that, there’s a lot to play for this week, a good Cheltenham would go a long way
towards the monthly prize.Very best of luck everybody, this is going to be some week

What a plonker.Hope you had a good time at Cheltenham Graham and backed plenty of winners.
Thursday and Friday looked might tricky my best day was Wednesday with Nicols Canyon hope you backed him too as I know you liked him…Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 18, 2017 at 00:07 #1293275I can’t believe it Jac, I’ve done exactly as you…..no horse picked
for tomorrow, and more importantly, no reminder put up. I deserve to
get my books for this
. I hope most in here have more brain
cells left than me and got their horse on, my apologies to all, perhaps
it had something to do with being at Cheltenham today (not the drink as
I was driving) but maybe my brain hadn’t warmed back up……it was
bloody freezing. I’ll post the league update in the morning.I did have a great time today Jac, even if I can’t say I was overly
successful, and I did back Nichols Canyon, I mentioned it on the
Day 3 (Thursday) tipping thread in the Cheltenham Forum. I had thought
if Harry was going to get beat, NC was the most likely to do it, so I
took the 12/1 as some insurance. I did well out of him, but I would
have made a pile out of Harry. However I’m not complaining, Harry made me
plenty through the year and in best Arnie style, he’ll be back
Hope you did okay over the 4 days Jac, it was a pity about Bristol De Mai,
he looked a picture going round the paddock, but didn’t really show what he’s
capable of in the race.If I had remembered about the transfer for tomorrow, I would have had to pick
from Cogry, Spookydooky or Goulanes. They were the 3 I put up in the Midlands
National thread last week, at 16/1, 16/1 and 25/1 respectively. I’m happy sitting
on those prices, and glad all 3 have made it in the final decs. I’d probably have
gone for Goulanes. Good luck if you’re having a punt in it

Graham Black (Galaxy’s Chaser) has moved into the top three for the first time. Well
done to you all

Disappointed as I would have starred American yesterday and well done for putting him in
my comp.
I need to get a move on as slipped down to unlucky 13 now so next week is crucial.
Don’t think we’ll repeat that mistake again.
Does it all finish on GN day Graham and wonder if they might do a flat version this year, now
that would be interesting.Brilliant race for the Midlands National I was also on Goulanes and Mysteree so got a free bet from Paddy Power out of that one. The most exciting horse of the day was AMERICAN looking forward to seeing how he progresses next season, what a good looking individual and liked the way he thought out every fence he jumped, made it look effortless

Good luck next week Graham and Nath
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 19, 2017 at 13:24 #1293536I really like AMERICAN too Jac. I put him up at 20/1 in the ante post thread
and also at the same price in Bobby’s TRF v Pricewise Compy for the RSA. It’s
a pity he has dodgy knees, Harry Fry pulled him out of that very late on because
of the ground. He’ll need it soft before Fry will chance running him, but he looks
one to follow next year
The competition runs until 29th April Jac, so still time to get yourself on the 1st
page on the leaderboard. I can’t see any mention of a Stablestars comp on the flat,
but I’ll keep my eyes open for one.I was on Goulanes too, but it was clear from a long way out that things weren’t right.
Fortunately I had COGRY (a bit of a cliff horse for me) e/w at 16s with Skybet, and
thankfully they went 6 places so he just squeezed in there
I’ll need to start thinking of getting a couple of National likelies into my stable.
Good luck with the last month, there’s still a prize for the monthly winner, so worth
hanging in there for a last hurrah
March 19, 2017 at 14:02 #1293542Harry Fry didn’t have the best of Cheltenham’s but at least he wasn’t prepared to risk American on unsuitable ground, he’s a good trainer and wish him all the luck with this boy next season.
Think I’ll have to take a look at Skybet for the flat Graham they seem to have some pretty good offers going and 6th place with Cogry 16/1 was very generous.
I’m also thinking the National now for the ATR stable, I’m setting my alarm on my mobile for 6.00pm next Friday just in case I forget again. Anyway plenty of time to the 29th April my thoughts will definitely be with the Guineas meeting by then and hot summer days on the Rowley Mile.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 22, 2017 at 22:31 #1293830Early transfer bump reminder…….

Charles Darwin to conquer the World
March 23, 2017 at 10:49 #1293859Thanks for the early reminder Nathan.
Now the problem is do we transfer some horses that are going to run at Aintree or concentrate on this weekend?
Are there many Bonus races at Aintree apart from The Grand National?
Making sure I get my Transfer in early this week….good luck Nath and Graham.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 23, 2017 at 11:37 #1293867Thanks guys for the transfer heads up, I had it marked on my calendar for today, and
a bit of string tied round my pinky
9pm as usual for transfers tomorrow, Friday 24/03/17 week 20. There are no bonus races this
week, and none until the Aintree Festival.Yep, I’d definitely think about having one in for the National Jac, it’s worth a lot
more with the bonus than than you will get on Saturday. There are quite a few bonus
races at Aintree to consider and try and squeeze in another. You have this week and next
to pick from those in the early part of the Festival (6th & 7th), which include the
bonus races …….
Boom Bar Aintree Hurdle (6th)
Aintree Bowl Chase (6th)
JLT Melling Chase (7th)
Liverpool Stayers Hurdle (It’s listed in the competition list as the 7th, but I think
it’s on the 8th)You then have the transfer window on Friday 7th to add another for the National on
the Saturday. I’ll be keeping in Harry for the Liverpool Hurdle, and if Un De Sceaux
is in anything like his Cheltenham form, he could be the one for the Melling Chase.
Buveur Dair is all the rage for the Aintree Hurdle, but I think Apples Jade will be
hard to beat, I can’t forget her incredible run at Aintree last year. The Aintree
Bowl is a hard one, a lot of those at the head of the market had a hard race at
Cheltenham, I wouldn’t be surprised if it threw up a bit of a shock.Good luck everybody, we’re into the home straight now. I’ll update the league after
the end of racing tomorrow
March 26, 2017 at 02:20 #1294184Well there’s not much movement in the league this week. I suspect many, like me, have
sacrificed having a runner this week, to boost there stable with a few likelies for
the bonus races at the Aintree Festival. I’ve transferred in Defi Du Seuil this
week in readiness for the first 2 days of the Aintree Festival, and as next week’s
transfer catches the first 2 day of the Festival at the end on the week, the weekend
racing can (IMO) be forgotten for more lucrative points at Aintree. It might sound
stupid mentioning this, but it’s nearly always been the case that concentration for
transfers have been over the weekend directly after the transfer on Friday, I don’t
want anyone to forget that next week’s transfer catches Aintree at the end of the week.
Well that’s my patronising rant for the week over, but as it’s the type of thing I
could see myself doing, surely there’s some kindred spirit out there who might just
match me on the DOH!! scale
Good luck guys

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 27, 2017 at 00:33 #1294262I also pick Defi Du Seuil BigG
Is there any news on Faugheen or Annie Power? I think Coneygree may be coming back at Punchestown only the star horses bar Altior all seem a bit crocked. Douvan won’t be back. When does the season end?
Charles Darwin to conquer the World
March 27, 2017 at 02:13 #1294266I think Defi Du Seuil is a good pick Narhan, he has a great chance and with him being in a bonus
race he could add big points. I haven’t heard anything about either Annie Power or Faugheen since
before Cheltenham, I’d be surprised to see either back before next November. I’d love to see a
fully fit Coneygree take on Sizing John, that would be some tussle. Whether he makes it to the
Punchestown Gold Cup is the question, although Sara Bradstock seems bullish enough at this point.
I think it’s asking a lot as he’s only recently returned to fast work. Any niggle between now and
then would almost certainly rule him out.The competition runs to the 29th April, there’s still plenty of big race bonus points to pick up
after Aintree, in the Irish and Scottish Nationals, the Punchestown Festival and a final hoorah
at Sandown on the last day with the Bet 365 Celebration Chase and the Bet365 Gold Cup (which will
always be the Whitbread to me).I see you’ve been creeping up the league in the last couple of months Nathan, still time for you
and Jac to make it onto that first page, and who knows, maybe a prize for the final month winner
I’ve been heading the other way over the past month, although I’ve not had a runner these past two
weeks, between forgetting my transfer and then deciding to start picking for the Aintree Festival
and ignoring this week. I hope that pays off and I get a few bonus winners. It would be some feat
if someone from TRF could win the competition outright, Andrew and Ian at the top of the league
have a couple of hundred to make up on the competition leader, but very much still in there with
a shout. You never know, and as they say, It’s never over till the lady of considerable proportions
sings
