Week 13 reminder (hope it’s lucky for someone
) to be in for 9pm tomorrow, Friday 03/02/17
There is no bonus race this week. Change at the top this week, unless tomorrow is a good one for
Carl. I’ll update the state of play in the league after racing tomorrow.February 4, 2017 at 01:26 #1285590Ok so it’s Douvan on Sunday, surely an absolute banker 40 points with your star on
it…… although I must admit that Willie always has me sweating a bit until I actually
see them heading to post
Leaderboard update after week 12, and for the first time since Carl Torr (CLT racing)
joined the league as leader in week 4, we have a new leader. Not much in it at the top,
but Andrew Sutherland (Teaformee) has managed to get his nose in front with Ian Tidmarsh
(Moet and Pizza darlings) keeping his place in 3rd. Well done to Andrew, and good luck
to all this week

A. Runs
B. Wins
Have Buveur D’Air as the other banker this Saturday.
Hard to know what to rule out now and the Elite Horses are becoming very fragile
just wondering if Willie will get a run into Faugheen before The Festival
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 4, 2017 at 10:31 #1285663Thanks Jac, surely Douvan can do us (and probably just about everyone in the league)
a turn today
Good luck with Buveur D’Air today, he looks nailed on. I’ve chanced Drumcliff at
Musselburgh as it’s a more valuable race, but he’s not a certainty by any means.I doubt Faugheen will see a racecourse before Cheltenham, and if my gut feeling is
anything to go by, I have some reservations about him appearing there at all.Good luck today, but Jac…..Stable Star ?
February 5, 2017 at 15:47 #1285973Great to see Douvan romp home this afternoon

However, just a point re the Stable Stars star selection this week, which I think you noticed.
I definitely put my star on Douvan this week but when I went back to check the
scores just now the star remained on Faugheen
I have emailed via the feedback and waiting for an answer. I said that both my
Elite horse and my other selection both won and why would I leave a star on a horse
that is out with a pulled muscle at present.
Did also notice that one or two in the League may have had the same problem so check
your selections.Know it’s just a comp and a bit of fun but they make it so complicated that it could have happened that
when I transferred Douvan in and then transferred the star it may not have confirmed.Interested to know if anyone else had same prob and will let you know what they say.

If it’s just my silly fault then I’ll be more careful in future.
Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 5, 2017 at 17:30 #1286001I’ve not had that problem with the stable star Jac, although I nearly once,
after nominating my star, forgot to click on the “confirm” at the bottom of
my list. I nearly got caught because the horse I moved in, which I then put
my star on, I clicked the “confirm” button directly beside the horse’s name.
It confirmed the change, but I forgot to also click the “confirm” button for
my star change at the bottom of my list. Fortunately I realised what I’d done,
and got in to confirm the star change before the deadline. You are right that quite a number had their Stable Star on horses that didn’t
run this week, perhaps there is a problem although I think there may be
a few that have maybe given up the ghost. A lot of the stables have chosen
to keep their stable private, so I don’t know the exact number that have
not changed their stars, but of those open, I reckon it’s over 20. Those that
are a bit behind in the league, and the competition in general, there’s a good
way to go, but in any case it’s well worth trying to get your stable in shape for
Cheltenham as there are prizes for the Festival itself, as there are for monthly
leaders. By the same token, if someone has decided to put in a stable and just let
it run, then that’s absolutely fine too.Let me know what the feedback is from Attheraces Jac, I hope if there has been
a glitch they can rectify it and give you the points you deserve
February 5, 2017 at 18:18 #1286010I think that’s what I must have done Graham. Like you said transferred in Douvan and pressed Confirm and then transferred my star from Faugheen and forgot to confirm again. I expect that to be the answer I receive now but will let you know when they get back to me..anyway I won’t do that again
Some good racing again next weekend so lots of time to make it up..Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 6, 2017 at 15:58 #1286140ATR Team got back to me to confirm that I had transferred in both horses but had omitted to confirm moving my star to my transferred horse.
Here is their reply to me just in case anyone else is feeling slightly confused with all the confirming and updating we have to do in this competition.
Hi Jacqui
We have checked this and we can see that you made your 2 transfers on Friday (3rd Feb) but you didn’t confirm your updated star horse. In order to do this, you need to click on the star next to the horse (on transfer page) you want to be your star for following week, but then also click on ‘Confirm’ button to make this change. Unfortunately, as this was not done, your star wasn’t updated.
Kind regards,
Stable Stars TeamI’m kicking myself for not going back to check it after I swopped but think it would have been passed the deadline anyway so a big lesson learnt.
Just in case I forget again here’s a note to my stupid self..LOL

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 6, 2017 at 16:45 #1286162Ouch !! that’s a bit sore Jac
. At least it’s only 20 points lost, it would
have really hurt had it been a bonus race. Better to just put it down to experience.
There’s plenty of BIG points coming up with the Betfair Hurdle and the Irish Gold
Cup, both bonus races, this coming weekend, and the Festival just over a month away.
Best of luck Jac
February 10, 2017 at 02:20 #1286636We’re into week 14 now, and for anyone that needs reminding, transfers to be in by 9PM
on Friday 10/02/17. Last week was a bit of a lull, but things should pick up this week
with 2 Bonus Races, being the Betfair Chase at Newbury on Saturday and the Irish Gold
Cup at Leapardstown on Sunday. I hope that all have read the reply to Jac from Attheraces
with regard to the chosing of the Star Horse each week. As Jac pointed out, there were
quite a few Stables that had their Stable Star on a horse that wasn’t running last week.
From those that have open stables, I found that quite a number had their Stable Star on
a horse that wasn’t running in week 13, whilst having a horse in their stable that was.
If anyone, like Jac, found that their star wasn’t where they intended it to be, then the
reply from ATR gives some guidance on that.I’ll update the league standings on here after racing on Friday. Good luck all this week
February 10, 2017 at 19:46 #1286698As I mentioned yesterday, there hasn’t been any change at the top, and the league in
general is pretty much where it was last week. Of those that picked up 52 points,
Nathan Hughes (Nathans Nippers) and Paul Irwin(Inthestream) benefited most position
wise, by jumping 3 and 2 places. Well done guys, and good luck all, especially in the
bonus races this week

race before the Festival. The bonus race is the Ascot Chase on Saturday, which
has cut up quite a bit, and I’d expect Cue Card to be all the rage in the competition.
Personally I’d love to see Traffic Fluide do well, as I do have a bit of a
financial interest in him here and at the Festival. I’ll hang off as long as
I can to see if he is an intended runner, I do have my doubts just 7 days
after the Game Spirit, the question is will I risk him in the competition?
…..I’m not so sure about that
I’ll update the league later on Friday, there’s some shuffling of places towards
the top, and a new Stable makes a late entry to the league.Good luck all this week, and get those Cheltenham Stables in good shape

Just had to go for Cue Card with the star this week, if he’s going down the Gold Cup route he has to win this one in style. You have to love this horse and wish him luck.

Brilliant that Andrew Sutherland top of our League is 13th overall in the competition, what an achievement.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 18, 2017 at 00:17 #1287789After week 14 Andrew Sutherland (Teaformee) holds onto his position at the top which
he has held for 3 weeks now. Ian Tidmarsh (Moet and Pizza darlings) swaps places with
Carl Torr (Clt Racing) and takes 2nd place…..very well done guys
We also have a new Stable in the competition, Graham Black (Galaxy’s Chasers) who
comes straight into the league in 4th place. Welcome Graham, you’ve put together a
good stable there
I maybe should raise an issue which perhaps some are thinking about. At the start of
the competition I had some positive communication with Attheraces, in particular
Mathew Taylor (Director of New Media and Innovation At The Races). I had raised the
possibility of there being a Private Leagues competition which Mathew was considering.
With the time scale, and it being very close to the start of the competition, they
didn’t get that organised, but I think it would likely be a serious consideration
for next year. If they do have it as part of the competition next year, I believe they
will make a cut off point for leagues to enter, with all members in place, probably being
the start of the competition. Last year was the inaugural running of the competition, and
I had spotted it with only a week or so before the off. I highlighted it on here and it was
suggested that I might give reminders, so I found myself keeping a tally of bonus races and
scores. It’s not an in-house competition, and I don’t have any of the work that Venture To Cognac,
Bob Rolf, Triptych or Nathan Hughes have, but if it helps anyone with me putting up reminders
and the league positions I’m happy to do that.I wish I had thought of this earlier, and apologies in advance to to winner of our
league this year, but if I’m continuing organising the league next year, I feel I should
put my hand in my pocket and put up something for the winner, and maybe also those in the
places. If there is still the same interest next year I will have that in place.
I would, in all fairness, have to make a cut off point for those entering to be eligible
to win any prize. This wouldn’t effect anyone who wanted to join in at any time, it’s an ATR
run competition so I have no control over that, it just would mean that they would not be
eligible to win the TRF League prize. As I said, I wished I had thought of this earlier, and again apologies to the eventual winner
this year, but I think it wouldn’t be fair to introduce prizes half way through the current
competition. I’m happy to listen to any thoughts on the matter, and if it is acceptable to
all TRF’ers, I’ll introduce that next year and post as early as I can to give all plenty of
time to consider their stables.Good luck to all in the league, it would be brilliant to hear that someone had won one of the
monthly or Cheltenham prizes, or who knows….maybe the competition outright

Jac
I’m in the same boat Jac, as much as I really like Traffic Fluide, I had to go for
Cue Card in the competition, he’s much the safer bet. It’s looking like TF is going
to run, I’ll be happy if he runs well, and If he finishes 2nd behind CC I’ll be even
happier as I’ve backed him at 20/1. I’ve not given up hope that he might yet go for
the QMCC.It is a difficult shout who to hang on to and who to let go. I’ve let Crack Mome go
and put Cue Card in. I’ve got Ch’Tibello running tomorrow, but Yanworth will probably
be too hard to beat. I took a chance a good while back and bet him at 50/1 for the
Champion Hurdle, if he’s to have any chance of heading there he’s going to have to
win or run Yanworth very close.I’ve got Douvan and Thistlecrack in at the moment, but Altior does look like he’s
only got to turn up to win the Arkle. I won’t change either until the last minute,
if at all. It’s superb we have a few right up there in the competition, and I couldn’t agree
more that Andrew is running a stormer….the best of luck mate
Good luck this week Jac, let’s hope we have more luck than with Don Poli, who I also
transferred into my Ten To Follow to give myself a runner in the National…..didn’t
that go well
February 18, 2017 at 22:34 #1287984Bet you were pleased with Ch’Tibello today Graham he put the wind up Yanworth alright, that 50/1 still looking good for the Champion Hurdle.
Not so Traffic Fluide sadly his jumping really let him down in the early stages today and I think you could draw a line through that race, he has to do better next time out but he won’t beat Cue Card I think we have seen the Gold Cup winner today he just enjoys himself so much and makes it look easy.
At least we got our 100 points and I had Yanworth also but still in 14th place everyone is far too good.Although I’m not a great NH fan (only because I don’t like to see the horses fall, I love all the characters involved) really enjoying this competition and your updates are appreciated to remind me of the bonus races etc. Great work Graham
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 19, 2017 at 01:10 #1287995Thanks for that Jac
. Yep, I was very pleased with Ch’Tibello today, I think
he’s improved with every race and he’s not far off them. Whether he’ll take his chance,
I think that’s still touch and go, but I think he wouldn’t be out of place.Traffic Fluide was really disappointing, he never looked like he was travelling well. It
wouldn’t surprise me if they find something wrong again, it’s such a shame, I think he’s
talented but he’s clearly a nightmare to train. I have my doubts if he will see the Festival.Cue Card was too good to turn down wasn’t he, and probably most of us relied on him today.
Don’t worry about being in 14th, that’s pretty sound. I think getting things ready for
Cheltenham is going to be crucial with so many bonus races. I’m still on the first page,
but have been slowly sliding down of late
I can’t wait for the Festival, I’m going, like last year, on Gold Cup day. I’m praying
Unowhatimeanharry can do the business for me on the Thursday, I wouldn’t have enough
satchels to fill for Friday, but I’m not counting my chickens yet. What’s that that
Alex Ferguson would say?…..squeaky bum time….I couldn’t have put it better myself
