Seriously ATR what are you doing you show four jumps meetings that all go off within a few minutes of each other including Leopardstown and Fontwell which go off together and split screen you then omit Limerick, Down Royal and FFos Las to leave a 15 minute gap between meetings.

Limerick has clashed with none of the other races so far and could have been shown with no clashes you then show a 2 runners race from Wolverhampton at 1.40 with an 1/8 odds on horse instead of Limerick then a 13 minute gap to next race and miss out FFos Las at 1.45

It was obvious ATR couldn’t have shown all the meetings but do a bit of planning someone.

    The producer needs sacking immediately.

It’s always this way over Christmas. Frankly, they could drop Wolverhampton for me. But it’s because somehow they have to fit in the commercials that earn the money, so Down Royal, Limerick and Ffos Las pay the penalty. Down Royal isn’t even available as a replay service either, so guess we’ll never see it, given their now appalling race review section in the mornings. :(

Anyone have any news on Knocklayde Euro who pulled up injured in the 1.25 at Down Royal?

Scared to think how bad their racing review will be tomorrow, we’ll probably only get the final fence or hurdle for each race except for the crap at Wolves which will probably get a full replay.

Yes, you got that almost right.

Wolverhampton shown in full again  and final half of Limerick races, although these were shown after racing yesterday along with the last mile of Ffos Las races.

Down Royal was shown during the early part of Stateside last night, but we were also promised it in the review, so will probably be shown at 10.15 with one other meeting, maybe Leopardstown.

ATR should really have delayed Stateside last night as there were only a couple of meetings and broadcast a review of the UK racing, or had a longer review this morning.

So, Fontwell 12.20 wasn’t broadcast at all yesterday. Half of Sedgefield, all but the last at Towcester and Fontwell 2.05 were split screen.

Three of the Sedgefield and Towcester races were due to go off exactly the same time, so stupid to broadcast both meetings live.

Commercial and betting revenue takes priority over keeping the racing fan happy. As we will all keep on watching, nothing will change.

....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.

ATR Racing Review was as follows:-

Part One:- Wolvo (Full), Limerick (Finishes)
Part Two:- Ffos Las (Finishes), Down Royal (Finishes)

No room for Leopardstown despite there being Graded action, let alone Sedgefield, Fontwell & Towcester.

As I’ve said before, why not show the racing reviews between 6 & 9am rather then low grade Aussie Racing. :?

People carp about RUK showing too many replays, but at least the races are played back in full.

I still cannot understand for the life of me why ATR don’t show the full race replays.

Why don’t the powers-that-be there realise that the races themselves are the single most valuable asset they have to form students, racing fans and occasional viewers who just like to watch the action? :?

I don’t even bother setting the video to record the previous day’s action any more. There’s not much enjoyment in watching just the closing finishes.

Even with very minor jumps races, there’s a certain enjoyment to be had in watching the spectacle of the whole race, even in small fields and not-very-thrilling-quality races.

To me, they’re not making the most of their best selling point (the races themselves, as opposed to the delights of Matt Chapman and John Hunt) and are selling themselves short, not to mention attracting criticism from racing enthusiasts.

With a bit of rejigging of the schedule and some common sense, they could keep a lot more people happy.

With the forthcoming loss of Ascot, you would think ATR would want to be keeping as many people as possible happy among the viewing public.

Me neither. I’ve complained no end of times about the new format and how awful it is. Viewers don’t want to watch hours and hours of people in a studio, even if it is brand new and shiny; they want to watch racing. The Racing Bulletins rarely have any news of interest that can’t wait until later in the day for the Racing News slot so you just feel like they’re deseperately trying to fill in the time until the commercial break.

But that’s what it’s all about of course. They need more adverts to pay for the shiny new studio and service that nobody likes. What viewers actually want to see is irrelevant as far as they’re concerned. :x

Hard to argue with this, my friend. To be fair, they have always struggled with the Boxing Day programme though they did use the "red button" facility in the past to show a couple of the cards. I think the Down Royal meeting has only been shown live in the past few years when other meetings have been abandoned.

I was once told they did not have the resources to show three live Irish cards.

Today’s ATR programme featuring Taunton and Lingfield was pretty shambolic in places.

Matt Chapman gave the big build-up to Taunton course commentator John Blance, handing over to him in exuberant, over-the-top style…only for there for be a long pregnant pause of total silence from Blance.

There doesn’t seem to be any co-ordination in these handovers. If the commentators aren’t expecting or wanting to be asked to contribute to some pre-race interaction, it would be nice if someone checked in advance whether they would be listening to the feed or not.

If they don’t want to speak to the ATR presenter, that’s fine but a little bit of co-ordination would be good so that everyone knows where they stand to avoid long, unnecessary silences.

Then, blow me, the same thing happened again when Mick Fitzgerald built up a big handover to Blance, again for there to be another long, embarrassing stony silence from Blance.

He certainly knows how to kill things stone dead (and not just with his lacklustre commentaries).

I can’t believe it’s just happened again, for the third time, in the 3.30 race. Another deafening silence from Blance after Fitzgerald handed over.

Nobody at ATR had done their homework when Michael Heard rode an unexpected winner, his first under rules, on Home Run.

Chapman didn’t know his first name and said he wished he could tell us what the jockey’s first name was but he didn’t know and added that nobody on the course seemed to know either.

By the time they had taken a break, somebody seemed to have found out and Chapman was able to tell viewers the first name of the successful jockey. He then had to call him "Mikey", of course.

    What a shambles.
