But hey, they have plenty of time to speak to Pat Cooney at Bet365 seemingly every single day (and repeated ad nauseum in case anyone missed his pearls of wisdom!)

Don’t forget the extremely annoying Rory Jiwani – who has tv presenting asperations apparently – every meeting he is there lurking.
Has anyone else noticed that the feed on ATR keeps freezing for a split second ever so often has only started happening since the revamp usually during a race?
September 1, 2012 at 09:41 #411672Hang on a minute, ATR are replaying Killarney from the 30th!!! I’m going to have to have a lie down.
First time they have ever shown a meeting from a previous day since the move. Maybe they have realised their screw up from yesterday.
Now, what about Hereford and Fontwell? Think I may be expecting miracles there.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.

Yes, this has been going on for a while, but I can’t get a straight answer as to what the problem is. Virgin have checked my equipment and replaced the set-top box, but claim everything is fine. However, a couple of engineers have told me this freezing can be caused by warm weather affecting the feed.
A year or so ago, the pictures froze for 3 or 4 seconds every few minutes on RUK and some sky sports channels.
If you happen to be a Sky customer and are having the same problem, this would suggest it’s a broadcast issue.

September 1, 2012 at 12:04 #411691I’m a Sky customer and I’ve been getting this split second picture freeze for some time too. At first I thought it was a big tree opposite our house, but that’s been chopped down and I don’t get this on any other channel.

With both Sky and Virgin customers affected, the conclusion must be that this a technical problem with the channel. Either a problem with the frequency it’s broadcast on, or a glitch Sky need to sort out.
Nice to know it’s not a problem with our equipment, but annoying all the same.

September 1, 2012 at 22:55 #411730I think it’s good that ATR has shown some of the Turkish racing.
From what I’ve read, it’s been a very valuable and high-quality meeting that I would have thought might be of some interest to at least some racing fans. It adds a different dimension and it’s sometimes an interesting bonus to see races from countries we are not accustomed to seeing.
If some viewers are so insular that it’s all a complete bore to them, that’s not the fault of ATR.
It’s infuriating that many of the replays of domestic action, especially jumps meetings, are still not being shown and I’m surprised that ATR hasn’t taken on board the criticism it has received on this matter. It’s pig-headed and ultimately not in ATR’s interests for there to be bad feeling about this when it is so easily rectified with little or no damage to the schedule itself.September 6, 2012 at 09:22 #412166Does anyone know why they’ve stopped showing the win, place and show figures on the race results? I don’t bet, but it’s always fun to how much I might have won when the 1st three come in at long odds, but now there’s nothing. Very peculiar as they push the betting side so much.
September 7, 2012 at 14:39 #412296It was said a few weeks ago that the new graphics haven’t be fully utilised yet and as time passes they will add more features onto them not sure if this will include the win, place & show.
October 25, 2012 at 08:45 #418205On this morning’s ATR Racing News bulleting at 9am, Zoe Bird advised viewers during her run down of the Breeders’ Cup entries that, and I quote:
"And moving on to the Breeders’ Cup Classic, which no European horse has ever won this".
Poor grammar aside, we all know two Europeans were successful – Arcangues (1993) and Raven’s Pass (2008, the former memorable also for being the longest priced winner.
Possibly more annoying is the fact that she wasn’t corrected by her producer, or if she was simply didn’t bother broadcasting it.
It will be interesting to see if they insert a correction or delete the relevant audio when they play it out throughout the morning.
Given the reasonable complaints on this and other sites that the Racing Review has been cut to shreads making it difficult to pinpoint the races you want to review, how long must we endure thus level of unprofessionalism. I don’t mean to pick on Bird, but she has shown no signs of improvement ever since she took to the ATR airwaves, and appears to carry out very little, if any, preparation prior to going on air.
I am sure ATR do not pay peanuts given some of the high profile presenters they have on their roster, so why are they not able to jettison the less capable who at times insult the intelligence of the viewer. Alternatively are their directors and producers incapable of interjecting when glaring errors are broadcast.

I reckon they do it deliberately at times for a laugh, presenters like Bryce and Perham have got to be regularly put away by those above. No one could make as many errors as they do without help.
Perham just ploughs on regardless no matter how stupid they make him look.November 21, 2012 at 21:11 #420464Will ATR have to change their titles again after the Frankie Dettori allegations? He is prominent in all the short pieces between each break will they feel they have to change it?

That’s nowt. Try working at Dave, editing Jimmy Savile and DLT out of the Top Of The Pops repeats.

November 22, 2012 at 21:27 #420530Back on subject (More or less) – Racing Review service continues to get worse and worse…
WEDS:- 9.15 til 10 – Southwell (AW) followed by features
10.15 til 11 – Folkestone (NH Finishes only) / Fakenham (NH Finishes only).TODAY:- 9.15 til 10 – Lingfield (AW) – shown twice
10.15 til 11 – Hexham (NH Finishes only) / Fairyhouse (NH Finishes only). Why not show one of the NH cards between 9.35 and 10, then the other in (nearly) full in the 10.15 slot – oh, sorry don’t want anyone recording, taking notes and possibly taking money off those Bookie chappies!
I still think ATR should utilise 6-9am for replays (with the exception of Saturdays who gives a monkeys about low key Aussie racing?)
