The big race for fillies in France is under orders and away but unbelievably ATR stay with the commentary of the 2.40 at Worcester, a two grand 2 mile 7 furlong chase.
By the time the the thrilling race at Worcester is over the runners at Longchamp are inside the last 100 yards and the commentary is lagging by a few seconds on the pictures.
What utter tripe. We had already had enough commentary on the near three mile race for viewers to be aware of who was in the running, unlike the race at Longchamp where you just had to have known the colours in advance to track how the race was shaping. Pathetic directing. Ah well, at least it’s free, cos I wouldn’t pay for that crap.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 12, 2013 at 15:42 #439436Perhaps it has something to do with UK racing taking precedence in the event of race times clashing? It may be in their respective contracts, although I’m only guessing.
May 12, 2013 at 15:42 #439437Couldn’t agree more Steve. That Plumpton chase was full of low grade chasers going backwards so fast the Italian Army will probably recruit the entire field.
But ATR stayed with it, so we got the final half furlong or so of a Classic.
May 12, 2013 at 17:50 #439456The race was on RUK, split screen is neither use nor ornament, why not show the chase in full then show the French Guineas in full. None of the racing on ATR is live so what does it matter if the French Guineas is shown 2 minutes after the event?
May 13, 2013 at 08:05 #439491The directors have little or no in depth racing knowledge but know had to press buttons on a desk in sequence. They follow a running order religiously and are unable it seems to make decisions outside the box.
ATR claim to be the home of stateside racing but failed to secure rights to show the Kentucky Derby.
They were advertising the French meeting all week as if they are the home of French racing then provide this awful coverage. Thank god RUK came to the rescue.
We know ATR once utilised the red button to avoid clashes. So the fact they don’t bother shows they have no will to produce a superior service. No wonder they have lost Ascot.
