I will go for Dash of Spice 16/1 with hills, but I am looking out for 20’s. After 2 years off he led for 12f only to weaken in the last 2f that was over 14f Newmarket and now he is back to 12f at Ascot a CD he has won over. Last time out the going was soft but now he will have Good to firm. I am hoping the first race back has got him fit.
July 21, 2020 at 00:31 #1494562I’ll almost certainly bet Protected Guest here. Can be awkward, but he’s better than a 25-1 shot, though I’ll probably wait till the day. I’ll watch the market.
Completely agree with Dash Of Spice. Thought it was a tremendous comeback from injury last time, and I really like him here as well. Very interesting for the coming months.
The Trader ran well at Ascot, but possibly weighted to his best on that evidence.
I’m torn between Protected Guest and Dash of Spice right now.
July 21, 2020 at 00:47 #1494563VTC I backed Dash of Spice at Epsom where he won by 5L I think and the trainer said he wasn’t extended, then he won at Ascot as he pleased, had 12’s on him there and then at York I had 12’s in the Mackeson Gold Cup. The owner said he came back a different horse and then he was off for 2 years.
July 22, 2020 at 13:10 #1494660If Carlos Felix doesn’t run on Saturday, he would be my pick here.
July 22, 2020 at 20:12 #1494711I quite like Carlos Felix on his last run where they stepped him up to 12f and the way he won. Getting a lot of weight off the older horses being a 3 year old and carrying only 8-3, but because he is entered for Saturday as well it’s a waiting game.
July 25, 2020 at 16:55 #1495022Went with Protected Guest in the end, but having watched last couple of his races back, not as confident as I was midweek.
With that in mind, split him with Dash of Spice.
Dash of Spice 8’s
Protected Guest 25’sJuly 26, 2020 at 16:23 #1495119Dash of Spice 5th today and hopefully the handicapper will treat him little bit more kindly on his next outing when I will have another go on him.
