Verdana blue is a warm order but I’m not entirely sure how good she is on the flat and she will need to have a good few lbs in hand off 100 to be winning this
The one I like is Moon King for Ralph Beckett and Harry Bentley
Since being stepped up to staying trips he has 6 wins from 8 races
And stepped up to 2 miles for the first time last week he battled gamely to outstay good yardstick blue laurete
He is completely unexposed at these 2 mile+ trips and goes on any ground
9/1 e/w 5 places will do me
June 14, 2020 at 02:25 #1490618I like Moon King as well FF, but torn between him, Summer Moon, and San Benedeto, so I’ll leave this as late as possible.
June 14, 2020 at 10:38 #1490636Dettori is an interesting booking on Pianissimo, so I’ll side with them at 16-1.
June 14, 2020 at 22:50 #1490706Odd sort of race with half a dozen jumps horses trying the flat ,and many essentially exposed stayers. Done my ratings but all the rated runners come within 9lbs so looks tight.
SUMMER MOON’s 3rd in the Cesarawitch reads very well particularly as a three-year-old would generally be up against it in that contest. His from has improved as he has moved up in trip. Subsequently well held by Trueshan and Hamish at Newbury but those two look like potential ‘Cup horses’ so no disgrace.
DUBAWI FIFTY ran a decent second in this last year and it wouldn’t surprise if he’s thereabouts again. A bit of an old soak, but an out and out stayer.
The third one I’d throw into the equation is QULOOB. Has generally been keeping on at the end of two mile races
and race half decent race over two miles here last October. Has not been over raced for a six-year-old so Gary Moore might be able to squeeze some improvement out of this one.June 15, 2020 at 16:05 #1490775I’ll give Moon King 10/1 the nod here over Verdana Blue. After running
up a 5 timer, and raising 30lbs in the process in the space of 4 months, he went off the
boil last back end. Thankfully he looked back on track when he appeared this month at
Haydock. The extra 4f has to be taken on trust, but he gave the impression last time
over 2m that it would be within his compass. The 7lbs he receives from Verdana Blue
could be enough to tip the scales in his favour.June 15, 2020 at 16:24 #1490778San benedeto is too well in for me to ignore, 25s is more than generous, might top up tomorrow, verdana blue on firm would be hard to beat, trip will stretch her a little and im not so sure she has as much up her sleeve as the hurdles/flat allowance points towards, been a while since she ran that 160….
Blue laureate the other I like and ill have an e/w there
Nice looking race
June 16, 2020 at 16:26 #1490940Threw a dart at Blue Laureate 14-1 ew 6 places. Hopefully he will run a nice race.
June 16, 2020 at 16:33 #1490944Asuthor e/w an Rochester House e/w for me, hard but interesting race, hard to tell how many of these will be running to get fit.
June 16, 2020 at 16:41 #1490947Happy with Moon King at 10s, I’ll add a rev f/c with Verdana Blue.
June 16, 2020 at 17:41 #1490965Just wondering: the official distance of this race is now 2m 3f 210y. Seeing that it starts on the straight mile, why not just move the start back ten yards and make it 2m 4f again?
