Redford has been cut after his AGC win. Its hard enough trying to work out whos aimed at the race but I reckon Swift Gift will be and ran 7th in it last year. I reckon if Meehan gets a decent claimer like Swift or Biscuits he can go very close. It would be funny if D. Swift rode Swift G.
September 21, 2010 at 09:18 #318566Even with a 6lb penalty
Redford
at 7/1 would win this if he is the Group horse his illustrious fellow Ayr Gold Cup winners,Bahamian Pirate,Continent and Regal Parade turned out to be! Dandy has no qualms about turning his horses out so quickly so i wouldn"t be concerned about that either! I wont mention the ground!
September 22, 2010 at 16:53 #318748Like Redford i am also on the hunt for Gold Cup and Challenge i think i got the winner and it is called
SARASOTA SUNSHINE 14/1 HillsWhen Noseda puts one of the big 3 on a horse Dettori,Moore or Murtagh it has to be taken serious. This is a progressive horse Dettori and Moore have won on this horse and who is on him this saturday yes some bloke called Murtagh
like
Forgotten Voice and Laddies Poker Two both have been big gambles at Ascot i would not be shocked if this fellow ends up as the fav for the race and is my tipSeptember 22, 2010 at 22:34 #318810Mia’s Boy
2pts ew @ 33/1
His last two starts have left plenty to desire but Mias Boy has plenty going for him in this race provided the draw is kind to him. For a start, all his career starts at 7f read

. Still an entire horse, he goes on any ground although maybe best with a little give in the ground, probably genuinely good ground would be favourable and its likely thats whats he’ll get on Saturday. Adam Biscuits gets the leg up and takes 5lbs off. This is only the second time in his career that Mia’s Boy is ridden by a claimer and considering his record that is pretty impressive having contested these tough handicaps for over 2 years with a rating north of 100. Off his current mark of 103 he’ll race with his lowest mark in those 2 years which amounts to effectively 98. He’s been off the track since an uncharacteristic display in the Royal Hunt Cup where he would have carried 7lbs more than on Saturday. The break will have done him good and he’ll be ready for a big effort come Saturday. With the jockey booked for the ride he’s an almost certain starter so that takes some of the pressure off the selection.
Trainer C A Dwyer had a winner this afternoon with Rough Rock and guess who was riding…looks like a winner to me.
Not that it counts for much but the horse will be running as always in the same colours Dangerous Midge who smashed Rainbow Peak and others in the G3 Arc Trial at Newbury recently.
(Also it’s weird that he’s called Mia
‘
s Boy…Mia is Boy?:P)

The apostrophe is possessive, nulty – the boy belonging to Mia.
As far as this race goes, I’ve had a small interest in both
Gramercy
(25/1) and
Golden Desert
(33/1).
I’m loathed to get too involved until the final declarations have been made.
September 22, 2010 at 22:54 #318813I just Googled that…bloody complicated language!
September 23, 2010 at 08:25 #318839I’ve been keen on Swift Gift in all his races this term. My concern is that he has been to Meydan and that tends to put me off backing a horse. I really wanted to see a claimer like Dale Swift on his back for this race but I guess if you can’t get a claimer then the current champion jockey will have to do!
September 25, 2010 at 08:46 #319184Looks a tricky race but one I love working out! The filly Sarasota Sunshine looks like she could be well in and you have to take notice when Murtagh & Noseda team up.
Bonnie Charlie + Imperial Guest also catch the eye at bigger prices……
September 25, 2010 at 09:28 #319190One of those races that throws up the dilemma of several horses running that you’ve been following for some time … in this case, Wannabe King, Swift Gift and Light From Mars … two choices … either don’t have a bet or figure out which one of the three would p**s me off the most if it won … LFM is the one that falls into the latter category so may end up having a few quid ew at this morning’s 40’s especially given his decent form last Autumn.
September 25, 2010 at 10:33 #319205Having staked my claims before the draw was made I’ve added another to make it three selections for the race:
Mia’s Boy, Swift Gift and Imperial Guest.
Swift Gift

I’ve been keen on this fella in all his races this term. My concern is that he has been to Meydan and that tends to put me off backing a horse. Imperial Guest
1pt ew @ 25/1 Ladbrokes
I can’t help picking this horse. My two other selections are drawn middle and low so to balance things out here I’ve gone for a high drawn horse and one whos given me a return before. As mentioned before in the thread I keep an eye out for the late John Guests horses especially in these handicaps and while I cant back every horse in the race I can make an exception to make it three selections in the race. George Margasson won a 14 runner handicap yesterday at the track with Excellent Guest and similarly named Imperial Guest makes appeal from his performance in the Buckingham Palace stakes over course and distance at the Royal meeting. His last effort was great at Doncaster and has less than a length to find on a winning mark. Drawn well where there should be a relatively high level of pace I hope he can get a carriage into the race and finish like he has done before at Ascot.
September 25, 2010 at 11:27 #319209Imperial Guest has a couple of pieces of form from this season that give him a decent shout here and the 25-1 that was available was too big…..
September 25, 2010 at 12:01 #319218Castles In The Air, or Gramercy for me!
Good luck all.
September 25, 2010 at 12:20 #319222I so want to have a bet on Colepepper, but I know if I go to the bookies I shall also have bets on Advanced, Light from Mars and Mias Boy [and possibly a few others] so I’m going to abstain completely, especially as mine all came last in the AGC.
September 25, 2010 at 16:48 #319303Well done TAPK
