Or am I mistaken? I get the impression that whenever he loses the ball in a tackle, he dives to the ground, holding head or limb and feigning terrible injury, as though to excuse himself for having lost the ball.
Now, we all know Johnny Foreigner does this (witness Samir Nasri’s near-death roll just before he got straight up to try and nut his opponent – and thus getting sent off – all trace of the crippling injury that forced him to the ground having disappeared). But Wilshere’s still a youngster and needs a good telling off for acting like a big Jesse. Or am I doing him a dis-service?Happy New Year

The boy Wilshere has got talent but does not like getting tackled. He reminds me a lad back when I was in primary school, we all played footy in the playground as normal, next thing I know the teacher has me stuck in the class all week, the lad had gone crying to him saying I was being to rough.

The primary school my son goes to don’t even play football at lunch times(health and safety), hey perhaps Wilshere went to the same one. The manager is half to blame as if it was up to him it would be a non contact sport, it’s no surprise they are so soft in the middle of midfield and at the back, I expect they get a weeks wages fine if they tackle someone in training.

Sadly, however, he is far from being the only one; witness the ‘spinning top’ David Lopez for Brighton against Newcastle – ludicrous. In defense of JW he does seem just to want sympathy, lying there as though gunshot, rather than squirming and clutching, trying to get an opponent carded.
