With the exception of Peeping Fawn, I am left to wonder where APO’B will find his Group 1s this season. It’s not a bad situation as we do require different colours to be seated in the throne for once.
April 28, 2008 at 12:46 #160341If you can get worked up off just that small comment Salse – you’ll have a heart attack with all the self tire pumping that unfolds in the Aussie forums.
Sorry – comes naturally to express yourself like I did.

I would be pretty annoyed if my trainer recommended selling my horse without exploring all the options, and that horse went on to Group 1 glory and a potentially lucrative stud career.
Especially since Archipenko is by Kingmambo. Of course they will have Thewayyouare in future, but we don’t yet know whether he’s trained on.
April 28, 2008 at 14:29 #160355Myles,
That would be Peeping Fawn in addition to Duke of Marmalade who won the Prix Ganay (Gr.1) on Sunday….
Archipenko for the Eclipse would be my bet although the Prince of Wales’ could still be a possibility.
What do you think of Haradasun – now with Aidan O’Brien. You’ll have more idea about his form than me.

Apart from Jupiter Pluvius (for SPRINTING) don’t think Aiden has much at this stage, of three year old talent. But certainly has some very good older horses.
Of course Peeping Fawn is the best of them. Yeats and Septimus have the staying division wrapped up (unless Fabre’s Coastal Path comes over). Septimus is also a likely contender for 1 1/2 mile honours along with Soldier Of Fortune (on soft ground). As Adrian says Duke Of Marmalade at 1 1/4m, possibly 1m too. He is a bit short in the mile division.

Myles, I have a suspicion he’ll be fine…
Yeats, Septimus, Peeping Fawn, Duke of Marmalade, Scorpion (is he still in training?), Soldier of Fortune in the older division should win at least 3 G1’s (DOM already got one on the board) more likely 5 though given that the staying races are likely to be carved up between the first two in the list.
His 3yo’s are the weakest bunch for a while but I thought that when Footsteps and Virginia Waters did the Guineas Double.. Moonstone looks an Oaks filly to me..
April 28, 2008 at 15:27 #160378According to Timeform Racehorses, Scorpion is at Castle Hyde Stud doing his bit for a fee of E6000.

Value Is EverythingApril 28, 2008 at 18:14 #160424How do we know that AOB didnt try out said Blinkers and tongue tie, lets face it he can run a group1 in his back garden if he wants to and certainly could have last season at archipenkos distance, with George Washington, Duke Of Marmalade, Excellent Art, Dylan Thomas, Peeping Fawn, Yellowstone, Eagle Mountain, Astronomer Royal etc all running at roundabout the same trip as archipenko.
I dont think it gives much credit to AOB to assume that he never tried blinkers on the horse, when he has brought horses out blinkered before, Stravinsky Powerscourt and Antonius Pius are three that spring to mind. I think the decision however would have been made by Michael Tabor who is extremely shrewd in buying and selling his horses and cant see him having sold Archipenko without having several boxes ticked beforehand.
Would suspect his job is safe enough for now though.
April 28, 2008 at 19:31 #160435He has sold a number who have gone on too win stakes and now stand in the US, Giants Causeways brother have ended up over their at stud.
An irony would be if Archipenko ended up under darleys banner…
April 28, 2008 at 19:32 #160436I don’t think the Ballydoyle team will be too upset. What’s the crime in making one mistake? How much more will their cast-offs be worth as a result?
April 28, 2008 at 20:03 #160446Freud, full brother too Giants Causeway now stands for $10k in New York despite only having been graded stakes placed…
April 28, 2008 at 20:29 #160456The same thing works both ways, what about bertolini, raced for Godolphin and stood for Coolmore I beleive?
Freud had Elusive Flash, third to Majestic Roi in the Fred Darling last year at 66-1.
April 28, 2008 at 20:47 #160462Bertolini stands for Darley, he stood first in the UK for a couple of grand hence why his first crop were like fleas on a rspca rescue case.
April 28, 2008 at 21:03 #160464Im sure Bertolini used to be on the books for coolmore ireland, remember seeing him on their sires list on their website, because thought it was very strange that he had raced for godolphin yet was at coolmore. Im pretty sure of it, unless I was drinking at the time.
April 28, 2008 at 21:30 #160468A National Hunt stud alongside Mountain High I believe?
April 28, 2008 at 22:43 #160484I think it’s much more healthy to carry on a bit like MD – in fact, making light of it – than bottling it up, which can make the person end up thinking they’re the cat’s whiskers at punting. Until the next day or the day after when they’d lose it all. I do that regularly anyway without particularly bottling up my elation at winning.
Surely, it’s OK to stray beyond the purely analytical in our converse. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s clear, isn’t it, that a lot of posters enjoy the social aspect of this board, as people do on others.
They never seem to get army scenes right on the box, because in reality, squaddies seem to spend a good bit of their time taking the rise out of each other. It seems to be a way of expressing affection, ironically. It’s harmless social merriment, imo, anyway.
April 30, 2008 at 22:39 #160868Coolmore sell horses to race. Nobody would buy from them if they only culled their duds.Everything they sell must have potential to somebody.Archipenko is bred in the purple. Archipenko will lead many buyers back to Coolmore this autumn to find another Group 1 horse for sale. What an ad. for Coolmore he is.
