I’m not going to quite abandon Noland just yet.

I’ve thought long and hard about this race all week and no matter what angle I look at it from Riverside Theatre just keeps coming out on top.
PN is a brilliant trainer and I would expect What A Friend to be very fit I’m not so sure he’s showed PN as much improvement as he would have hoped for this season
The million dollar question is why would he send him here and not to Ireland?
He’s already beaten the favs Money Trix and Joncol round the same course and distance, the prize money is more than 4 times as much as it is for the Aon.
Somehow PN has convinced Fergie to run him here and let Angela Yeoman’s Pride of Dulcote (Now a non runner) go for the big one despite the fact P O D recently beat Punchestowns on this very course.
Maybe Fergie doesn’t give a hoot about the prize money but there can be little doubt PN would want to win both if he could and the fact Pride of Dulcote was his choice to go to Ireland would worry me about What A Friend’s and would have to wonder if they think he isn’t as good as he was.
Even at his best he may not be good enough to beat Riverside Theatre who’s 2nd in the King George looks oustanding form for a virtual novice.
What I like about Riverside Theatre is he is very straight forward and totally reliable. The trip isn’t a worry, not round this track after seeing it out in a King George most of these would have been tailed off trying to keep up in that race.
Noland is a slight worry… his second at Xmas behind Pepe Simo over 2 miles was a decent run and with AP on board anything could happen. His run in January could be down to the now famous flu jab.
However I reckon Riverside Theatre is a rock solid betting proposition that shouldn’t be missed. Biggest bet of the season so far for me.

Noticed though that its not Walsh on board but Niche Market regular jockey. Harry Skelton

Don’t allow you to ride with broken limbs mate It’s one of those silly rules they have
February 17, 2011 at 19:25 #341066With no Riverside Theatre i think this is a great oppertunity for Fair Along as i wouldnt trust WAF. Love to see him win as well!
February 18, 2011 at 11:42 #341152Carronhills at 20’s seems like decent E/W value. Sure it’s only 2 places, but i’m willing to take that on
February 18, 2011 at 13:06 #341159Class is permanent n all that
February 18, 2011 at 14:40 #341165Not sure what to make of Carronhills. Got a huge stride on him, and he was going very well before he made that mistake; thought he looked plenty big before the race, but it’s difficult to see properly on the telly.. Jockey obviously wanted him to finish the race. Still going to keep an eye on him. Hate seeing Fair Along jumping fences; he just looks so small.
February 18, 2011 at 15:13 #341167I thought Carronhills was impressive considering this was his first run back after a long break.
Jumped left, Maguire was very kind to him in the straight I thought. Off 130 he’ll win a good handicap – Will Hill Chase?February 18, 2011 at 22:17 #341223well done mcoy n nobby….
xFebruary 19, 2011 at 09:09 #341259Yes cracking result Beckster. Was he OK afterwards?
Fair Along did just look tiny in that field. Just seemed that much more effort to get over but careful enough – he skied one of the ditches. I’d go to the Punchestown world hurdle with him.
