Who do you guys think will be the best AOB horse at middle distances this season. And which races will they go for horses like
SNA
Jan Veermeer
Await The Dawn
Seville
So You Think
Cape Blanco
Recital
Misty For MeApril 3, 2011 at 19:56 #348522SNA(Will not win any Group 1 race…desperate effort today and obviously injured)
Misty for Me( I dont think she will win any Group 1s this year..she was campaigned very aggresively for a 2yr old filly and the job is done regards her. Might place in a oaks and Group 1s but i think she was small and horses will improve past her)
So you think (Irish Champion Stakes is the main aim i would imagine…take in maybe Prince of Wales and King George but not sure that race would suit him…possibly the eclipse to take on the Derby Winner if not Recital)
Seville (St leger favorite all over….i cant have him on my mind for any proper classic)
Recital (Derby Winner, Irish Derby Winner and who knows from their)
Jan Vermeer(Difficult one to weigh up probaly King George…May well now be rushed for the Tatts Gold Cup the fact that St Nick cant win that race)
Await the Dawn( A fascinating horse that Ballydoyle never knew they had by all accounts…looks a 1m2f horse again but where will he run…really handled soft so maybe France could be a major option for him)
Marksmanship won a very good maiden their today…is only one of 2 unexposed decent AOB 3yr olds with Sam Lords Castle…could see as any sort of Classic 3yr olds….He could well run in the Dante.
ROC looks a miler and i would expect him to win the Irish Guineas if he runs well at Newmarket…depending on how Pathfork runs.
April 3, 2011 at 21:53 #348529I think Pathfork will win 2000 guineas i do.
I think Jan Vermeer should race at 1m2 races he did not stay a 1m4 last year
Await The Dawn is intresting for me as i think he be top class at 1m2.Do you think he could be a 1m4 horse as well.
Who will be there top horse in the arc as well this year i think it be Recital
April 3, 2011 at 22:03 #348531Jan V will win every race he runs in over 10f

Daft writing St Nicholas Abbey off on the strength of his performance in a slowly run, heavy ground listed race, imo, particularly as Fame And Glory was turned over in this race in similar circumstances last year, and at a similar price.
Also doubt Coolmore would have persisted with the horse either, unless they thought him capable of improving on his past achievements?April 3, 2011 at 22:18 #348534I would’ve thought his performance today will leave him a backable price for the Tattersalls in 7 weeks.

He was better over the minimum trip though

Also doubt Coolmore would have persisted with the horse either, unless they thought him capable of improving on his past achievements? They did a similar thing with Yeats before he won his fourth Gold Cup but at least with him and Fame and Glory they had proved they were all age group 1 performers. I agree that it would be unlike Coolmore to persist with SNA if they didn’t think he had the ability but you also have to factor in that because he’s not exactly regally bred, they weren’t just going to pack him off to stud after his guineas run.
He is still a nice looking colt but got in a bit of a state and you would liked to have seen him travel strongly then fade in the last furlong rather than labour for most of the race.
I’m not sure you’ll get the price you would want either. The bookies are unlikely to take a chance with him just yet.
April 4, 2011 at 18:16 #348642So You Think, is absolutely different gravy, see his runs in Australia last year, this boy will win the King George.
May 6, 2011 at 21:24 #354158Apart from Seville all big names have had a run this season what you guys think. And how will he keep them apart as well.
May 7, 2011 at 00:08 #354196I suppose you must add St.N.A after today’s Ormond Stakes.Interesting that Fallon is booked to ride for Ballydoyle on Sunday!
May 7, 2011 at 02:31 #354212Is it beyond the realms of fantasy to predict that AOB will try SNA back over a mile with the use of a pacemaker?
May 7, 2011 at 06:40 #354222I was at Chester yesterday and would say that SNA definitely has some sort of physical problem. His tail carriage at the end of the race suggested to me he has a back problem. He got away with it yesterday but it wouldn’t surprise me to see him flop if he took on better opposition.
May 16, 2011 at 19:48 #355732So You Think is an astonishing physical specimen. It is rare to see a horse so powerful without being a bit plain as well but this fellow is pure quality. Everyone was gobsmacked by him in and around the parade ring at the Curragh. He will do his sire Hurricane Run a power of good.
May 16, 2011 at 22:13 #355752Not to worry tuffers. SNA is by Montjeu, they all carry something the wrong way.Either at the front or at the rear.
May 17, 2011 at 02:14 #355764He will do his sire Hurricane Run a power of good.
I believe So You Think is by High Chaparral, think Hurricane Run’s oldest crop are only 3.
He is a beautiful horse though, really awesome to watch.
May 17, 2011 at 08:02 #355772Sorry I meant High Chap. Auto took over after I typed the H. HC probably needs a boost more than HR.
