With the start of the jumps season now approaching (insert either :) or :( ) has anyone had a look at the markets for Cheltenham. The Gold Cup is fairly open with horses form this year likely to improve, and several horses are returning form injury. I still like Star De Mohaison and Trabolgan for the blue riband, though it is concerning me the vibes form the Trabolgan camp are less than upbeat.
I’ve not a clue about the champion hurdle but qould want to take on this years runners, while in the World Hurdle I am hopeful Inglis Drever can be back with a bang. In the QM Chase I am keen on Voy Por Ustedes (sp?) although i am expecting that to be a hot race.
Anyone got any fancies they want to share or certainties we should go for? (I know, chance would be a fine thing)
ps This is my 1 jumps thread for this year I’m just getting it out the way now so no-one thinks I’m biased
October 2, 2006 at 05:34 #78540Have been told that Kauto Star (antepost favourite for the Champion Chase) may go for the Gold Cup and that Well Chief might not even make it to the track this season :o so certainly wouldn’t put you off Voy Por Ustedes at the 8-1 with Ladbrokes (Corals only go 6-1).
Missed That is my very early Gold Cup fancy though haven’t backed him yet, just laid everything else that’s trading at 50 or lower on Betfair.

I’ve got 12s about My Way de Solzen for the Sun Alliance Chase.
October 2, 2006 at 08:10 #78542I can’t believe that the Champion Hurdle will go to one of the old guard again. I’m keen on Iktitaf for the race.
October 2, 2006 at 20:12 #78543I have laid Black Jack for the Stayers as I think 9/4 is a crazy price- how short will he be on the day if his whole season goes perfectly?
October 2, 2006 at 20:15 #785446/4?
October 2, 2006 at 20:17 #78545Have had a very small interest in Mid Dancer in the Gold Cup.<br>I believe he is due to come over at the end of the month and run at Carlisle which I think may be the intended target for Monets Garden’s reappearance as well.
October 2, 2006 at 21:36 #78546I’ve got money on Detroit City in the Champion Hurdle and My Way de Solzen for the WSH.
I believe I remember mention of Cyrlight and another Franch superstar chaser possibly running in the Gold Cup.

And you might hit the jackpot, carvills, if the horse goes for the Champion Hurdle instead. It seems there’s a fair chance he will.
October 3, 2006 at 08:37 #78548I hoovered up all the 100s on Beef or Salmon for the Gold Cup -admittedly it was only a little over €20.
October 3, 2006 at 09:28 #78549Plenty of time to lay it all off though Luke for a tidy profit.
I’ve backed Detroit City for the Champion Hurdle and probably going to back Gungadu for the Sun Alliance Chase.
October 3, 2006 at 09:35 #78550I’m with Gus – i reckon BJK may go for the Champ Hurdle. If so I think he has the speed to win it….

His quick ok but Im not really sure about about being good enough for Brave Inca etc at the distance. He has been very impressive last year but plenty of much better horses around then the ones he has destroyed so far.

October 3, 2006 at 15:21 #78552I think Macs Joy is the one to beat… Should have won the champion and showed true form at Punchestown..
If BJK went for the champ though, who would McCoy ride? Neither being retained?
October 3, 2006 at 15:30 #78553There is certainly very little between Macs Joy and Brave Inca and after the success at Punchestown when he kicked earlier than expected, I wouldn’t be surprised if similar tactics are adopted on Macs Joy again this season.
October 3, 2006 at 15:44 #78554Not an Ante Post punter, and if trading out is your thing, Monets Garden looks worth a few quid at some of the prices being offered on BF,

Punchestown suited Macs Joy down to the ground though. I think in any battle, there would only be one winner.
