Free Eagle was very impressive at Leopardstown yesterday.Following the outstanding record of So You Think and Toronado he looks to add to the burgeoning success of High Chaparral.Interesting that Coolmore have not advertised him more.
August 16, 2013 at 12:53 #448537High Chaparral is really firing out the multi Group 1 winners now. Perhaps he is advertised better than we realise, but the Coolmore marketing of him could be aimed mostly at the Australian breeding industry.
Related to this, I think Rock Of Gibraltar could be marketed more prominently and given some more chances. He is starting to produce some very speedy sprinters.
August 16, 2013 at 19:42 #448561High Chaparral looks to be one of those sires who can produce some very high class horses but a lot of very average horses. His winner to runner ratio is fairly low, particularly among 2yr olds. Therefore, he has selective commercial value.
Rock of Gibraltar, they have promoted as a commercial sire, has a lot of winners, although so far not too many rated >100.
Coolmore may be at a bit of a crossroads, with the sad loss of Montjeu and Danehill Dancer covering less mares, it will be interesting to see which of their sires will they look to directly support in addition to Galileo.

I reckon High Chaparral must be pretty popular over in OZ because his European stud fee in Pounds Sterling is around £21k, whereas his Australian stud fee is £45k
August 16, 2013 at 20:57 #448576They all seem to have longevity and progress with age which bolds well for Free Eagle considering how impressive he was last night.
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
August 17, 2013 at 12:06 #448628And don’t forget Hadrian’s Approach, arguably too ”slow” to win a ”Whitbread” (lol) Gold Cup and a possible long-term Grand National prospect as he becomes a second-season chaser this autumn.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"August 17, 2013 at 14:29 #448647Good luck with that one, Ian. I fancied Hadrian’s Approach for the RSA. Maybe the new smaller Aintree fences will help him out, as a pint-sized dodgy jumper.
August 17, 2013 at 14:51 #448650Fastnet Rock seems to be the one in Australia.Already a couple of winners over here.A son of Danehill .
