Every trainer should be criticised when it is deserved, TTC.

There are some things that Hendo does that I don’t like – is why I criticised him in the Champ thread… And then there is stuff like this thread and others…

Criticising Hendo for something that’s just plain common sense for a trainer to do.

Criticising Hendo for something other trainers do all the time without criticism.

Even Henderson is joking about it now.

He more or less said: “Seen Energaume lately? Anyone going to ask Willie Mullins about that?” at Kempton today.

Clarence House is what, three weeks from the Desert Orchid?

Game Spirit is what, three weeks away from the Champion Chase?

So what Henderson says is again perfectly sensible.

Am sure if Shishkin had run in his original target – Tingle Creek – there’d be plenty of time between Sandown and Ascot and also between Ascot and Cheltenham.

Now it may be the case that Shishkin recovers quickly from today and if so may well take his chance in the Clarence House. Risk worth taking. But to run in the Game Spirit so close to the Champion Chase is taking a chance a very minor training setback will keep him either out of the Champion Chase completely or below form.

Shishkin reminds me a bit of Altior in that he can hit the odd flat spot (it was there today just before turning for home) and he sometimes throws in those overlarge jumps but when you really ask him at the business end there (so far) has always been a big reponse.

Energumene has winning form over 2m4f in heavy ground and spends a lot less time in the air at his fences than Shishkin so that will be something new for him to face and considering how hard Notebook (who had race fitness on his side and was the only one to go with him) pushed Energumene on his seasonal debut in the early stages of the Hilly Way but eventually finished tailed off whilst Energumene still kept galloping was impressive even if the bare result doesn’t look good.

Fingers crossed they do both turn up on their respective ‘A” games

What will the Irish horse make of Cheltenham though , it suits Shiskin to the ground , I’ll be honest I expect Shiskin to come on a lot for this , he had plenty of condition today ….honestly I don’t think we,ve seen the best of him yet

The Game Spirit should be a hack canter though.
