She’s now 9 from 9, looks like the best mare since Dawn Run.
I was wondering however what the unbeaten record is in national hunt??
January 4, 2014 at 01:00 #463807I haven’t seen her close-up, but I’m told she looks a natural chaser. I wish they had launched her at fences, and I hope they let her take her chance in the Champion Hurdle. On a line through Zaradkar she and the The New One are very close; if anything the mare was more impressive, and she has never been seriously challenged in any of her races, and may even be under-rated
January 4, 2014 at 03:12 #463819If we’re talking jumps racing in general, the 1940s timber horse Winton went 11 for 11 over timber until his first loss and finished his career 12 for 13. Only horse to win the Maryland Hunt Triple twice. He missed the prime years of his racing career due to World War II.
January 4, 2014 at 11:23 #463876Sir Ken
won 17 on the bounce after being bought to race in the UK by Willie Stephenson, with the last of those 17 (one on the Flat) was his second Champion Hurdle win.
Big Buck’s
has famously beaten that record despite actually losing on his first 9 starts.
In terms of horses who have gone unbeaten from day one,
Bula
is probably the best example, winning his first 13 races over timber (unraced on Flat/in bumpers), including the 1971 Champion Hurdle. He lost that record in a minor event at Newbury in October 1971, when failing by a neck to concede a stone to a horse called I’m Happy.
January 5, 2014 at 10:46 #463959Cheers lads.
I was at Naas the day she beat Don Cossack, Defy logic, The tullow tank and Moscow mannon barely coming off the bridle – she looks an absolute machine.
Agree with earlier post that it would be great to see her in the CH but that would be unlikely at this stage I guess, with her running at 2m4 or longer all season, it seems she’s world hurdle bound. Mullins is weighing up upsetting Boston bob vs upsetting Hurricane fly… I’d be shocked if he chooses the latter.

She’s ran over 2m 3.5f and then 2m 4.5f so I’d say it’s still up in the air where she goes.
I would think Mullins is more worried about upsetting Rich Ricci than Hurricane Fly
