Just announced
January 25, 2017 at 10:32 #1283699Hope that’s not the last we see of her
January 25, 2017 at 11:00 #1283703Naturally disappointed. Hard to see her running again unless they want to get her back for a last hurrah at punchestown. Must have only happened in the last day or two as Willie seemed fairly upbeat about her and was talking about running against faugheen. Obviously a difficult mare to keep right and is very lightly raced. I think its a remarkable career for a horse with so many problems and a remarkable training effort to see her win so much in so few races and to have her firing every time she goes to the track.

Long given up listening to a word he says.
January 25, 2017 at 12:50 #1283724Sorry++ to hear this; she’s nine now, so possibly that’s the last we’ll see of her. She was always electric to watch, and I’ll be pleased to see her retired safely.
I do have regrets; although Willie is a superb trainer, if she’d been been with any other stable she’d have won at least 2 Champion Hurdles. Protecting The Fly cost her Jezki’s CH, tho I think Faugheen would have been too good even for her. In retrospect, she didn’t run up to form on her only defeat (apart from the fall).
Another regret is that we never saw her over fences. She was such an athletic mare, it seems likely she’d have been a good jumper, and a natural for the Gold Cup. I wonder if they ever schooled her over fences at home.
But I’m being greedy, a wonderful mare, gave us many years of great memories - AuthorPosts
