What are your thoughts on Annie Power gents?
I find it difficult to comment Tommy mainly because I’m not entirely sure what route she’ll take this season. Reading Willie’s stable tour in the Racing Post earlier he hints at the fact she’ll stick to hurdles over the minimum trip, in which case I do think she’d have her work cut out against the big boys(pardon the pun). She obviously possesses plenty of class but looks to me a bit difficult to place mate.

She will turn into the new
Quevega
imo Tommy,I dont believe she’s a Champion hurdler at all.
October 29, 2013 at 22:05 #456693If there’s one flaw that I, Thomas Henry Boardman, could admit to sometimes possessing it would be that
sometimes
maybe
I can look too deep into a market when really a good thing is just right there staring me in the face
It’s something I try to avoid but often I don’t realise I’ve done it until it’s too god damn late
This one really takes the biscuit, as in March he was almost literally staring me in the face! I went to day one of the festival just gone, knee deep in ante-post vouchers for this year’s Champion HurdlerMy Tent Or Yours
. As such I decided a while in advance there would be no point in backing him on the day at around the 7/4 mark when I was already sat on 16s. When I saw them all out in the flesh it wasn’t even my lad that caught my eye, it was a big magnificent grey going by the name of
Champagne Fever
that really took my breath away. A huge rangy tank of a thing that looked born to jump a fence. I was instantly drawn in and on the spot it settled my ‘who should I back with my £50 –
Champagne Fever
or
Un Atout
?’ argument I’d been having with myself all morning and I was off to a winning start. I chucked him in a couple of knee-jerk post-festival multiples and let it lie after that.
Several months down the line we come to today, the day that common sense has eventually prevailed and I’ve realised just how much of a good thing this lad is for the Arkle. It’ll go some way to showing just how good last season’s Supreme truly was when he duly obliges,
My Tent Or Yours
saunters home just two races later and, were it not for injury, the fourth from the race
Un Atout
would
have won the Jewson.
October 29, 2013 at 22:33 #456695Several years ago, weatherman Michael Fish famously told the Great British public not to fear, the threat of a storm heading our way was a false alarm and that people need not worry. What ensued of course was the worst hurricane in hundreds of years.
The date of this national catastrophe? 15th October 1987, the very same day that a certain ‘bozlike’ was introduced to God’s green earth. Coincidence? Of course not, someone was trying to warn you poor b*stards of something

I was 7 years old and can remember running home with the wind behind me, all of a sudden I took off as the wind slept me off my feet and I flew through the air for about 20 metres.
Magic!

Sorry about that Nath, I wish I could have been introduced in a less destructive manner
October 30, 2013 at 15:59 #456736This Saturday sees the reappearance of next year’s World Hurdle winner,
At Fishers Cross
. In the old boy
Tidal Bay
he faces a rival with all the talent in the world, but also a rival who’s had almost a year off. We all know as well that he has his quirks, that’s for sure, and so for Sam Twiston-Davies – who’s got the mount – it could be a tricky baptism. I’d take the young pretender to get the better of the old rogue at Wetherby, which leads us on to the rest of the season, just who can get in his way? In honesty I don’t think anyone can. I for one would be surprised if Paul Nicholls, magnificent trainer though he is, can get
Big Buck’s
back to anything like his best. If it’s the case that he can’t, then the world is his, Rebecca Curtis’ and JP McManus’ oyster……

I’m only interested in
At Fishers Cross
winning the World hurdle Boz and being owned by a respected Gambler I’d expect a reversal or 2 this year en-route to World hurdle victory purely because 4/1 is an absolute joke for the race at this time of the season. If he gets beat on Saturday he’ll drift to 6’s!
Good luck though as I admire your Foresight.October 30, 2013 at 20:54 #456752This Saturday sees the reappearance of next year’s World Hurdle winner,

Tidal Bay
. There is of course
Big Buck’s
, I haven’t forgotten him, but I really can’t see this McManus beast getting done by one who’s been off so long, 4 World Hurdles or not!
Saturday’s the challenge Gordy, if we get through that in one piece then I’m counting my cash already

I must warn you Boz, the Irish challenge will be stronger than usual in this division I think

Will respond to the two of you regarding the Champion Hurdle soon!

That’s interesting Boz. From what I see, here, there and what I’ve heard from other people across the pond, this mare is very much under estimated. Her beating of Defy Logic with Don Cossack stuffed in behind is very strong form imo, better than anything Our Conor has beaten.
Don’t get me wrong, Our Conor was super impressive at Leoparstown and Cheltenham but I think he’ll find it tough this year. It’s not easy for four year old’s to make the step up and the two mile division looks exceptionally strong this season.
The Morgiana should reveal a lot, with Jezki, Hurricane Fly and Our Conor all entered. Hurricane Fly has a history of being off colour on his seasonal bow so it wouldn’t surprise me if Jezki beats him. He showed he’s a proper horse at Leopardstown and Punchestown last year and I’d say he could take the Fly that day.
This will be an ageing Hurricane’s biggest season yet, and the roof will blow off the stand if he wins at Leopardstown at Chrstmas. I was there when he put 10 lengths between himself an Go Native from the last to the line and I can now say it was a privilege to be there: I’ve never seen a better performance from a novice hurdler. Since then he’s been imperious at the track and I’m sure everyone would love to see him show the young brigade who’s boss. I’m confident he will do exactly that and you’ll probably get whatever price you like on Jezki and Our Conor after that

If, for some reason Hurricane Fly misses the Morgiana and goes for the Hattons Grace, I really hope Mullins lets Annie Power take her chance. What price would you go in a three horse race between Annie P, Our Conor and Jezki?

The problem with that is the old Quevega will be around for another season!

I hope Willie has Quevega closer to peak fitness this season, got a bit close last season for my liking
November 2, 2013 at 16:43 #457109What an absolute stinker! This time of year is when I normally start hitting my straps, easy money usually but I’m having a mare!

Yonder……a big bet on a big player in a big race in the not so distant future. This is what I do best and I’m as convinced as ever that if there were ever a time to see a 12 year old win the Hennessy it’s now. I’m praying Paddy Brennan’s at Newbury that day. It’s nothing to do with young Sam, he’s a top young jockey that’s seriously going places, but I’d love to see Paddy reunited with the old warrior en route to another historic victory. Come on Tom George, be reasonable! Stan James can’t hold this lad at 20/1 for much longer so I’m going to fill my boots.

Wasn’t wrong there, they went 18s five minutes after I got on!
November 2, 2013 at 20:58 #457125What a silly thread, alot of time spent and a lot of money lost. I suggest a change of title is in order.
"A LIABILITY TO MY ARMY"
Now lets all get behind Stonebrook next Friday. About £1100 on the nose should get this thread in the black.

Come out firing now you’ve been spotted as Billy Bullsh*tter have we

Listen friend, it’s not my style to get into a war of words, but I’d suggest if you took a detailed look at what you’re actually badmouthing you’d come to realise that about £1200-£1500(been a while since I counted) that’s in the red is actually
unsettled
bets, not losing, but thanks for the laugh anyway.
Please come back when you have an argument.
November 5, 2013 at 19:11 #457385This Paddy Power looks one of the trickier runnings of the race to solve I can remember
I had a little tickle onBenefficient
last week in the full knowledge that he was an unlikely runner simply because of his inflated Betfair price in case connections changed their mind and made the trip. He’s apparently off until Christmas now so that’s a line through him.
I do like
Rajdhani Express
, I reckon he’s full of improvement and has a lot going for him. My only worry for him is his mark of 155. I know
Al Ferof
done the business last year off around 157 if memory serves but I’m not convinced the Henderson horse is quite to that level yet. I can’t rule him out as I do reckon he’s going places this term, I just have my concerns.
The one I
would
fancy were the indicators on Betfair again saying he won’t line up is
Ballynagour
. He was travelling like a champ at the festival before emptying up the hill, although from what I know of the horse I can’t see how it would’ve been the trip that done for him that day. Assuming he doesn’t make it that’d mean connections are more keen on
Salut Flo
, so what does that tell us about what he’s been doing at home? He’s another with plenty of potential and, if fully fit, could go well of 144 despite the break.
I’d have it between these three at the moment but Christ it is a head-scratcher!
