Well, at least I’ve amused you gamorrison.
I genuinely don’t associate Mr Morrison with 72 rated handicappers. I don’t think I’ll ever associate Mr Morrison with 72 rated handicappers. I don’t think even he would associate himself with 72 rated handicappers given the choice.
Reading back, my post was full of back-handed compliments. I actually associate him with horses like Marble Arch, Pastoral Pursuits, Sakhees Secret and Medici Code – a horse everyone at Southwell loves because of its subsequent exploits in America. If you question me further, I actually associate him most with Paul Cole two year olds in the late eighties and early nineties.
As for aristocratic, he certainly doesn’t come across as a man of the people but then I suppose its all relative.
Best of luck with the pension job, Aaron. Still colder than a witches teat so I’ll leave them all to you.

Quick Release and Stand Guard should fight this out but a Dark Horse is definitely Red Somerset
January 20, 2010 at 13:49 #271079I fear this thread is gradually dying out as I had to go to the second page to find it
Maybe the last attempt at a pension job
230L Confidential Alt Suzi Spends
340L Fromsong Alt Ediths Boy
410L Waterloo Dock Alt Sherjawy
430K Playful Asset Alt Kadouchski
600K Audemar Alt Grand Vizier
730K Clerical Alt Cavalry Guard
800K Metropolitan Chief Alt Wetherby Place230L Confidentially won well over C&D in December against a decent yardstick in a favourable time. If in the same form will take all the beating. Suzi Spends wasn’t too far behind that day and might get a place at decent odds.
340L There should be a right good pace on here which could play in to veteran Fromsong’s hands. Ediths Boy if able to lead could be the last one for Fromsong to pass.
410L Waterloo Dock if able to race handy could go close. Sole win came over C&D last February and din’t run too badly LTO. Sherjawy has been running consistently of late and would rate the danger.
430K I’m giving a chance to Playful Asset. Has been running not too badly of late and against a modest bunch could prevail. Kadouchski has improved over hurdles and if transferring that to the AW could be the fly in the ointment.
600K Audemar if fit and ready after a couple of months break is a strong fancy to take this. Three good runs over C&D including a good win a couple of runs back. Grand Vizier has a couple of C&D wins to his name and has a 5/9 record on the AW and rates a danger.
730K Clerical is a hopeful EW choice to reproduce his run in October when a staying on 2nd.
800K Metropolitan Chief would have a decent EW shout if reproducing his run over C&D in November. Wetherby Place is an interesting one on his first run for connections.
Good luck all
January 20, 2010 at 14:09 #271081Aaron, the thread’s fine. Lots of interest in the wider section at the moment – and all the sections on TRF are structurally shorter.
I wonder where Slippery has got to though? Are you there?
Good post matey. Will be watching with interest.

Some very, very iffy rides and results this evening.
That said I’ve still, against my better judgement, ploughed in to Ejeed in the 7.30.
January 21, 2010 at 11:06 #271230Southwell 3.20
Lay Seamster under 2/1
January 21, 2010 at 12:54 #271251120S Handsinthemist is racing off a winning mark and returned with a decent effort after a break LTO and gets the vote. Our old Dickie Le Davoir could go close as could Metal Guru whos 2nd in Dec gives him every chance
150S I’m taking Greenbelt to follow up his win over the course over 12F LTO. Inside Story could reverse form with Black Falcon to take the forecast spot
220S Transmission won nicely LTO over 7F and seems to have taken well to Southwell. A C&D winner the time before he could well defy his new mark today. One that go well at a big price is General Tufto who loves Southwell and has been running OK albeit in lower grades
350S Camerooney is on a three timer and is expected to go very close against this lot
420W I’m risking Dynamo Dave in this one. Has been running respectably at Lingfield and if managing to stay a little closer to the pace can pounce late to win. Mojeerr ran a couple of decent races over the course over longer distances when looking as if not getting home. Dropped in trip over this course could be the answer. An outsider that has a squeak would be Romantic Verse who if reproducing his run over C&D in Novenber could sneak a place.
450W Onceuponatime did me a favour LTO and I’m sticking with him today under his penalty. A top form Green Park could run well at a price.
720W Chosen Forever has looked if there is more to come when winning recently and is the choice. Heathyards Juniors has won the last twice and his style of running suggests the extra distance should be OK and that there could be a little more improvement to come. Of the rest Boo should run his usual solid race but seems held by CF
Good luck all

Handsinthemist (1.20), Dubai Creek (2.50), Ambrogina (3.20) and Chosen Forever (7.20) are my suicidal all-weather bets for this afternoon.

An absolutely horrific day thus far, though having placed my trust in a short-priced, Donald McCain Jnr-trained favourite I probably deserve everything I get.
Having reviewed Wolverhamtpon’s 7.20 I have shifted my allegiance to Bolanderi at around 18/1.
January 21, 2010 at 16:42 #271276Media, plenty of the paddock lads had a bet on Botti’s horse (Ambrogina), who went to post beautifully and looked well. The new wily Italian was at the course too. The consensus was that the horse was unsuited by the way the race panned out.
You’ll get your money back by backing all four of those horses next time out. An above average race (on looks and probably form), for the course.
The owners of Dubai Creek -and there were plenty there – had very long faces afterward.
Opponents of the whip – and I am generally of that camp – would have struggled to defend the position after the last race, particularly with low class horses. Camerooney wouldn’t go a yard in the final furlong without, er, encouragement from the saddle.
Land of Plenty at a massive price each way for me tonight. (18.50) Not often you see Ed Dunlop with a 43 rated horse but at 25/1, he doesn’t have that much to find with the forecast favourite and the filly will improve for being dropped in trip and being back at Wolver.
Best of luck.
January 22, 2010 at 11:33 #271373Divine Intervention
Short of hiring an exorcist from the local Cathedral to purge the ill fortune plaguing my betting this winter,(each way bet LoP was fourth of eight at 25/1 by half a length), I thought I’d make a personal appeal to the Beatific One upstairs by placing a Divine Intervention Lucky 15 this evening at Dunstall Park.
Gracie’s Games – 16.35. Tongue strapped for the first time. I was at Southwell when this one ran last time under Winston. Mr Price asked Winston to push on with the horse; the jockey queried this, pointing out the pace in the race. Mr Price shook his head and insisted. The Mind Games filly looked a picture in the paddock. In hindsight, I suspect the Price yard were teaching the filly to go from the front. Today, Martin Lane takes over in a banded race. The apprentice was on board for her best run at Kempton in October and the drop in class and drop in distance might do the trick in a very poor race. 20/1 would be a fair price. (NAP)
Graceandgratitude – 17.05. Could improve for the drop in trip – ran really well last time up to this distance. 16/1
Gracie’s Gift – 19.35. Returns to the scene of his best recent run for the Guest yard after two abortive trips to the slow surface at Southwell (which didn’t suit). 5/1
Truly Divine – 20.05. Heavily punted last time at the sandpit but reared badly and missed the break. Much better was expected. Drawn to attack tonight and the Dwyer yard will have been working extra hard at the gates. The form of his Southwell jaunts have worked out extremely well and this looks a drop in class. 5/1
I might take out the Williams’ horse (17.05)as it is currently drifting like the Kontiki and have a treble-type punt on the other three.
Best of luck tonight, chaps.
January 22, 2010 at 15:38 #271434Best of luck with those Max. I shall just be having an interest in the last with a small EW stake on Sir Loin.
Stake……… Sir Loin….get it ?

Having backed Playboy Blues (withdrawn) and Carmanero (beaten a nostril) thus far my luck doesn’t appear to be in, but I’ve had £40 on each of Straight Face (7.35) and Cocktail Party (8.05) in the final two races to see if at least something of the evening can be salvaged.
January 22, 2010 at 23:35 #271528I Like the look of Sunset Boulevard in the 3.55 at Lingfield tomorrow. His record over CD reads 11556192122221 and his last win 8 days ago was in a pretty respectable time for the grade . I only have Southwell specialists Bosamcliff and Dream In Blue anywhere near to him on my figures and his course form makes him a reasonadly confident selection.
January 28, 2010 at 13:57 #272533Kempton 7.25
Councellor looks the bet to me, ran well last time out from a wide draw and was keen early, that was his first run back in 222 days and could step up on that effort. In truth he’s not weighted too well with Dens Gift on their previous but from a better draw tonight and a run under his belt I’d be hopeful of a good run.
1pt win 10/1 general – Councellor
February 1, 2010 at 00:51 #273341A cracking day’s racing at Dunstall Park.
Race 1:
Gower
was placed in Dundalk off 80 only a year and a half ago. Runs off the very minimum rating today. The ex-Charlton animal showed glimmers of his old ability at Southwell and now runs in more suitable conditions. Ignore last time – he reared at the start. Well handicapped
Commander Wish
could run well for stable emerging from a shutdown.
Race 2: Mister Island could be the least slow animal in this field and is ridden by a good girl. Ran his best race ever last time, which, admittedly, isn’t saying a great deal. Nabeeda is from a yard in great form.
Race 3: Anjomarba might be value against the Chapple-Hyam hot pot, but this isn’t my kind of race.
Race 4: Lily Lily is a battling front runner with an admirable attitude but there are stamina and surface doubts and she will probably set it up for
Tuscan King,
the only runner in the field ideally suited to the conditions.
Race 5: Tiger Hawk prefers fibresand and is likely to set the race up for Johnny Portman’s Brenda Duke who drops in class. Your Lad is interesting for the legion of Chris Wall fans.
Race 6: Typically fiendish artificial surface fare. Straight Face is a minimum stake selection to complete an Evans – Guillambert – Guillambert double. Just Jimmy, for the same yard, may spoil the party and cause some political strife down in Monmouthshire.
Race 7: Adam de Beaulieu is a massive horse, a fine stamp of a beast built more like a three mile chaser. Ran much better last time.
Race 8: A fillies handicap worth hanging around for and yet worth just the four grand. Not a race that loses anything for want of a bet either. Trainer form swings me toward Look Officer but as ever, the market is the key for the Owen/Dascombe “Bank of England” yard.
Bets: Tuscan King 10pts win.(NAP)
Gower 3pts win/Commander Wish 2pts win (NB)
Straight Face/Just Jimmy 2pts win each. 1Pt exactaBest of luck.
February 1, 2010 at 10:35 #273375Agree that Tuscan King brings the best form but the Johnston-trained Claddagh, who steps up in trip, ran two decent races at Southwell when up with the pace, looks a typical improver from the yard and looks sure to be involved from a good draw in stall 3. Riviera Chic from the in-form Beckett yard looks sure to be in the mix as well after a few placed efforts. A difficult race.
One I most like today is Kersivay who has been on the premises in his last couple of runs and has the good apprentice McHugh to steer and take a handy 5lb off, las time he was rated 70 he came a close second to the useful Gassin at this track, will be my best bet.
