Dancing City 12-1 ew AP, High Class Hero 16-1 ew AP, Readin Tommy Wrong 3-1 free bet. Jockey bookings suggest High Class Hero won’t be winning.

I’d have fancied Gidleigh Park strongly if the ground was decent. Now I think he’s too short because of stamina doubts.

Am on Readin Tommy Wrong, Dancing City and an outsider The Jukebox Man…

The latter the only one of my main bets to shorten so far this morning and in contrast Gidleigh has.

My two savers Captain Teague and Johnnywho both have too…

Maybe I have chosen wrong?

I’ve gone for High Class Hero, wouldn’t be worried about the jockey bookings I’m sure it was tough between the 3 main ones for Townend and The Nice Guy and Penhill weren’t stable 1st strings when winning this. I just think this was always his race whereas some of the others came here to avoid Ballyburn which has meant its a really classy field but some of them probably won’t be suited by the race and I have a feeling Gidleigh Park is very high up that list.

    Lecky Watson for me.

The things I want most in life are the things that I can't win.

What makes you think Gidleigh Park has stamina doubts, but Readin Tommy Wrong doesn’t?

Readin Tommy Wrong has had one run over 2m4f for which he started 16/1, and you could easily argue that form looks dubious.

“What makes you think Gidleigh Park has stamina doubts, but Readin Tommy Wrong doesn’t”?
    —————————————————————————————-

Look at how Gidleigh ran at only 2m4f on good-soft ground last time, Stilvi. He was very free early and pretty much had to lead. Then once more relaxed travelled through the race without being pushed to do so. The last one to come off the bridle. He’d also travelled well in his race at 2 miles… Maybe he’ll settle better in behind horses? But he has not been held up in his two starts at the intermediate trip so far, so if so it will be asking the horse to do something different. Therefore, although I’d normally expect him to stay 3 miles, there is a risk (that is not to say “will”, just “a risk”) he’s too free to get home when the ground places the emphasis of stamina rather than speed at the trip.

Contrast that with Readin Tommy Wrong. He settled very well out the back, needed to be nudged along to keep up at times and did not look like being the winner until the final few yards… imo As if a greater test of stamina will suit.

I do love Dancing City’s attitude though.

Fry was trying to avoid this ground but what can you do? So I’ll just be content with what I have, he has been well backed, mind.

Added CAPTAIN TEAGUE at 8’s, 3rd just in behind Fact To File in last years champion bumper. It would go down as one of the better ones if the 2nd and 3rd win novice grade 1 hurdles and chases at the festival respectively.

This ground is going to help High Class Hero who isn’t a natural jumper , he’s a e.w play along with Leckie Watson who’s 2nd behind Slade Steel looks rock solid

Johnnywho, the interesting one for me in this, and he’s my horse for The National Hunt Chase, The Pertemps, The Ultima, The Kim Muir, The Nunthorpe, and The Irish National next season.

Strangely don’t actually fancy him too much today, but I’d better have a token interest

    Jonnywho 14’s

The Nunthorpe lol love it. Hes a nice horse, strikes me as more a handicapper for next season and beyond. Slightly surprised they didnt go Martin Pipe but JP already has half the field

Just read back Yogis post on pg1. Very well done. Worth noting he was the same price on the day and no doubt bigger on the machine. Its not a race for antepost confidence
